there are a lot of choices out there and some equally impressive price tags to go with them... as far as 12 or 20 guage... both will work fine... it depends on what you are comfortable with... I lean toward the auto loaders only because my shotgun also get used during duck season... and I like to be able to have that 3rd shot if I need it... also, some of the recoil is absorbed by operating the action... as for brand... you name it.. I've always been partial to Remington... very affordable, accurate uot of the box and reliable... but you will also find quality guns by Browning, Berretta and Binelli... bottom line there is go shopping... handle all of them and see what feels comfortable to you... also, go to the range... many ranges "rent" out shotguns for trap shooting... remember, trap and skeet... as well as sporting clays... are all different games with different rule... good luck... enjoy...

you'll see a lot of people using over/under, but autoloaders, pumps, do fine. there are different leagues for the different gauges, but i prefer 12 gauge.

skeet and trap guns usually have longer barrels to help point of aim, so don't think about the turkey barrel or 18.5" personal defense barrel.
