The poison needs to get into the blood stream, it's actually safe to eat and they use it to kill parasites. I've seen a guy preparing darts then liking it off his fingers. After that they went hunting and the darned things killed monkeys in a few seconds.

It's also a bit like eating that blowfish sushi, you don't get enough poison in the bit you are eating to do you any harm.

Not all hunting is done with poison darts, a lot of
Amazonian tribes use Ayawaska, and hallucinogen which just stuns the pray temporarily.

It goes directly into the blood - or that section of meat.
Or - if you eat the whole frog, that'll do it too.

Same thing goes for snake venom.
You could drink it and if you didn't have any cuts or open sores - or ulcers, the digestive system just digests it.

Monkey tastes just like humans.
