Depends on what you are hunting: If it is game animal like deer, Elk, bear, or moose yes it is illegal.
If it is a varmint like coyotes and they are killing your live stock the answer is no as long as you are on your own land.

yes i had a buddy lose his hunting and fishing privileges for life for poaching with spot he was hunting deer . if youre hunting ratcoons you can use a light.

Yes! In the UK "lamping" as it is known IS Illegal and carried hefty fines and imprisonment when caught! (Note I say "when", not "if")
Hunting is immoral though and I only wish there were more predatory animals to hunt the hunters!
