hello i live in california and i fish in dixon lake.

There are HUGE bass in the lake but since the water is soo clear they refuse to bite at almost everything.

Crankbaits and spinners dont work. I've even used baby bass, small bluegill, and sculpin as bait. All the bass do is chase the bait, and once they get very close to it, they inspect it carefully and leave once they see it's a fake.

i usually fish from 6:30 to 11:30

what do you think im doing wrong?
Give me advice on how to catch them in clear water.

I know that Pike/Muskies aren't in California, but besides their preference for cold water, what causes them to not be able to live in California? What are all the steps you would have to take to maintain a healthy Pike fishery in California?

I'm sixty and live in a town where there is a river that has salmon and trout that I know of. Also, because I'm a resident and sixty, there is a pool that I can use for about £30 a year. I've been to the pool, it's at the side of an old bridge which has a fair bit of traffic. This is a lovely ancient town in Wales. Anyway ... to the point. Do I buy a new rod or what/how will I begin. I know nothing! HELP!

I'm new to fishing and have no-one to teach me or ask anything, so when a fish takes my bait and just takes off, fast, how long do I wait to set the hook and how exactly do you do that? Just pull up and back, hard or what? Also, when using wrigglers or nightcrawlers, the whole worm or just a little piece? Thanks in advance, for not talking to me like I'm stupid. How're ya gonna know if you don't ask, right?

My boyfriend went crabbing today and got a LOT of crab and now he isn't quite sure what to do with it. Vacuum seal? Refrigerate? Freeze? Thanks!

No other man or can say they have enjoyed sitting around watching another person hanging out a rod and say it is fun. Can you see the fishing competition on TV or listen to is in full swing on the radio? Next there will be‘paint a wall competition’ and the winner is the wall that dried first.

For example mine is, I caught a pretty nice-sized bass once when I was a kid, with no bait or lure, just a hook and sinker, killing time, practicing casting off the end of our dock. What's yours?

Am I right about this? I don't know a lot about fishing but have the impression catfish and other bottom feeders are about the least picky? If I put a little sinker on my line near my minnow and just let him lay near the bottom won't that get me the most bites, overall? I don't care what I catch and just like the most takers on my line at times when I only have an hour or so to fish,

I asked a question a couple of hours ago about what *lures* would be good for a beginner to use. So far I've received *ONE* answer that actually addressed lures at all. People, I know how to put a worm on a hook - or a minnow - or a shiner - I've been doing all of that all my life *And* I have no problem with getting my *hands* dirty. (Would you say that to a male?) The question asked about lures. Lures, not worms, not crickets, not bait. Good grief can anybody read anymore? And Rapala dude - thank you *very* much - your going to get best answer just for being the first one to bother to respect the question. (Not to mention it's a really good answer, too!).
