Am I right about this? I don't know a lot about fishing but have the impression catfish and other bottom feeders are about the least picky? If I put a little sinker on my line near my minnow and just let him lay near the bottom won't that get me the most bites, overall? I don't care what I catch and just like the most takers on my line at times when I only have an hour or so to fish,

Yes,overall the catfish is the least picky. Then again sometimes small fish like perch, bluegill will "steal " your bait or if your careful that's what you catch. But you better off to go to an offbeat area that's not all "fished out". Ive read that the bottom feeders carry a lot of parasites, toxins ect... But I go to small streams away from the areas where they would ever be fished. There are some great small bass ect.. just waiting for the first minnow or worm to be thrown in!

Yes, catfish will take any bait you offer (liver, meat, worms, corn, dough balls, hot dogs, you name it). If you use some really stinky bait like a few-day-old chicken liver, then you'll surely get some nice cats.
However, at this time of year cats are no longer that active except in the Southern states. But you can easily catch other predators (bass, muskies, pike, etc) with a live minnow on a treble hook under a float. If you want info in more detail you can always do some research on Yahoo or Google. Good luck.

Yeah catfish and bullheads eat anything and are easy to catch, wanna catch a few at one time?take a burlap sack put some meat in it, go see a butcher and ask for his scraps and bones, put a rock in it so it sinks ,tie it closed ,lower it to the bottom and then tie to a tree or a limb, come back in a few days and the fish will be sucking on the bag , pull it in slowly until you get in close to shore then give it a good yank, watch out for floppin fish

I move my sinker up about 10 inches and let the bait rest.
