Do not buy him any fishing equipment. I am an avid fisherman and when my wife buys me a fishing gift, it is usually taken back or stored in the bottom of my tackle box. A gift certificate to the largest sporting goods store nearest to you and an all you can eat seafood buffet after he finishes shopping would top my list.
