Does this pay well as a side job.... I was thinking I could by something around 26-31 feet. What training and classes do you have to do for this? Also do you receive a lot of business?

i saw this video on youtube a while back where these guys are catching some rather large fish which burrow into muddy creekbeds. what was most impressive about this is they weren't using any gear at all. what they'd do is drive their arm into the holes where the fish were and just wait. eventually the fish, i guess, thought the arm was a smaller fish and would try to eat it. that's when you pull your arm out of the water, bringing with it the big fish. anybody know what the term for this is called? did anyone see the video or a similar video by chance? if you can, please provide a link to it.

I think I'd like one of these for ultralight fishing. Most modern reels seem too cheaply made, but I know these old Mitchells are solid.

I take my son fishing to a couple of lakes and, because I don't own a boat, I always rent one for the day.
Do you know if there are portable fish finders that can readily attach to a rented 4 person aluminum boat?
If so, where can I buy one.
Any help will be appreciated.

Heading to the Casa Marina in Key West for the New Year. They said they allow fishing off of the beach and pier at the resort. However, it is winter so I was wondering if there is anything to be caught off of the shore this time of year and what baits might work best? I'm just worried about bringing fishing gear for no reason and being better off just chartering a boat instead... Thanks!

Can a fly fishing rod be used for top-water jigs for freshwater? For small-mouth bass and other small-medium sized freshwater fish. Also for worms? Thanks a lot! And if you don't get what I am trying to ask (rephrase it) I will add more details.

I bought a fishing rod for my dad for Christmas, but it along with others had a disclaimer for cancer in the state of California. (I live in Canada). I was concerned if it truly does and what in the materials causes the cancer risk? I know there are a lot of things that can give cancer. Even the other day the news said something about working the graveyard shifts could give it, which is laughable. Is this just some over hyped warning or something to really look at? It even has the same warning on the fishing rubber baits it comes with.

When you buy 3 dozen minnows at the bait store, some die before you get them to your lake, many die when in the minnow bucket, even though you think you are keeping them alive by keeping the minnow bucket in the water. The next morning, almost always the minnows are dead.

I just purchased a new Abu Garcia Ambassadeur Big Game fishing reel and am wondering what would be a recommended rod for me. I like going surf fishing for stripers and perch as well as fishing for rockfish off of rock points and in coves. I think I prefer a rod in the 9 foot range. I've only used cheapo rods from 8 to 11 feet long. What would be some ideal brands and models for me to check out that would make it capable for me to cast out pretty far and take some abuse from the surf and rocks. Thanks.

I have bought a fly-fishing rod.
I have the option of four piece or two piece.
Of course, four piece is more convenient because it packs away smaller. But there must be some problem with a four-piece rod otherwise everyone would get one.

I am thinking of getting a four-piece 6 weight 9ft for river fishing.
I have the option of a two-piece eight weight 9ft.

The information on the river i plan to fish said 5-7 weight is ideal, so 6 is best right? but is it okay that it is four-piece?

What is the best saltwater Fly you have used?? From Speckled Trout all the way up to Tarpon. (Redfish, Snook, Flounder, ETC..)
And if I could get it from a store then post the link.. But that is not mandatory. (Preferably these stores because I already have an account with them: Orvis, Cabela's, or Bass Pro)
Thanks and Have a great holiday!
