i saw this video on youtube a while back where these guys are catching some rather large fish which burrow into muddy creekbeds. what was most impressive about this is they weren't using any gear at all. what they'd do is drive their arm into the holes where the fish were and just wait. eventually the fish, i guess, thought the arm was a smaller fish and would try to eat it. that's when you pull your arm out of the water, bringing with it the big fish. anybody know what the term for this is called? did anyone see the video or a similar video by chance? if you can, please provide a link to it.

Yea, this is scary! What if it a really big fish! But, as stated I have heard of this, never tried it. I have caught fish by hand in a stream, it kinda fun. They just sit there swimming against the current and you come from behind and grab them.
OK, now ask about pipe fishing and then we will move on to Dynamite! LOL!

It started in Oklahoma, but there are now 7 states that allow NOODLING...The other states won't allow it because of liability issues. To date 7 people have been killed or seriously injured NOODLING. A few have died sticking their arms up under river or stream banks into nests of poisonous Water Moccasin Snakes..Others have lost fingers and chunks out of their hands and fingers from Snapping Turtles. A young 19 y.o.woman died in Arkansas after being stabbed in the neck buy a Catfish fin "Barb" and bled to death. Something about sticking your hands and arms underwater up under an embankment "blind" and not knowing whats there is a bit of a scary concept. Certainly not for the weak hearted folk......

He's right, it's called noodling. I believe the only state it's legal in is Oklahoma and yes they go after catfish. They show some videos on it on CMT's Country Fried Home Videos and you can probably search youtube for noodling.
