Sadly yes. It was a dumb move on my part. In the area that I like to go fishing I know that there is a monster Snook. The Locals call him Chester. No Idea why hes called chester he just is. Anyway this beast of a fish has never been measured but is estimated to be at least 30-40 foot long. He scours the St. Lucie river area in search of anything he can get is mouth around. Anyway I had been out for a long day of fishing and It was getting rather warm. I decided to take a dip and didn't look around to see where ole chester was. Well as fate would have it I was wearing my Neon Green Wal-Mart swim trunks. Chester loves anything neon green and with me swimming around it was bound to happen. No sooner had I jumped in I found myself in the belly of chester. Sad to say that was 5 days ago. Lucky for me he swallwed a lap top, a coleman latern, an ez chair, a cooler full of Bud light, and some pork rines.

Back in the early part of this century, it was a college prank. I have no clue why people did it, but I guess it was better than doing drugs. There was a guy on TV who could swallow anything that would fit down his throat (coins, balls, sugar, and fish). He could force it back up...the fish was unharmed (apparently) although I think the gastric juices in his stomach didn't do the fish any good. I personally can't eat anything alive or uncooked, although I have eaten bugs, unintentionally. If a person can't regurgitate the fish back up, I would not want the feeling of something swimming around in my stomach. On the other hand, there are plenty of fish who swallow humans, usually in pieces though. But that's because they are hungry, not because they are in college and trying to impress their co-eds!!

I was once swallowed by a giant catfish, once I made it thru it's lip teeth, which I cut my forearm pretty bad on, I proceeded to struggle for my Gerber knife which thank God I had on me that day, it was of course, getting hard to breath or see for that matter, so I just started cutting my way out literally, I was still a mess by the time I reached the surface, but then again so was the fish, big cats like that don't make good eating, but I decided, I was gonna at least have a small filet of the fish that tried to have me for dinner.

Sure!

When I was up in the Northwest Territory fishing in Point Lake, I got swallowed by a 28 foot lake trout.

Lucky for me, I had my skillet and firestarting rig in my backpack when he swallowed me. I was in that rascal for danged near two weeks. I finally carved off enough fillets, he had a habit of swallowing drift wood so I always had some firewood, that I carved right through his side. Lucky for me he was near shallow water when I carved through.

That fish started taking on water, and I gave a few more good slashes and made an opening big enough to squeeze through just before it sank like the Titanic. The guide told me that the lake shelved off to near two hundred feet just a little ways off shore. Lucky I was close enough to make it to the shallows before I got too cold.

Since then, I've given up on freshwater fishing, it is just too damned dangerous. Now I just handgrab for sharks off the Yucatan.
