My Grandpa and I are trying to find a winchester model 97 trench shotgun for my dad for Christmas. I found a WWI trench shotgun, with a bayonet for $1350. It has the flaming bomb on the barrel and receiver and is marked US. Is this a good deal? The guy has 0 feedback though, is it also too good to be true? Someone advise!

I'm looking for advice on equipment and accersories that would be good to have. I live in Los Angeles so I have freshwater, pier and deep sea fishing all available to me. Are the reel and rods that work for all conditions or would I need different equipment for different locations?

I'm having huge arguments with my in-laws about this topic. I was 6 years-old when my father bought me a cross-bow, but I didn't get my first deer until I was 8. They think I'm full of it and told me that it's way too young to be shooting a firearm. Where I came from (Ohio), most kids were out hunting with their fathers/brothers.

And how do you find someone to train you on falconry because its not something done that much anymore I know. I probably won't get into it but I just read up on it and thought it would be pretty cool to get into but its way to time consuming and expensive I imagine. What do you know about hunting with falconry as far as it being used today to hunt. I know about the history of falconry and all that crap. More or less I'm looking for an answer to practices falconry or knows someone who does. Thanks.

So I went ahead and bought my gun. I got a nice CVA Buckhorn .50 Muzzleloader. It's a basic but very useable gun. I am not sure what scope I am going to get. I tried a couple but it didn't work out (mounting issues). I am using Haroday (spelling?) sabots with 777 powder. Now, I am sighting in today and am heaing out the next 3 days. I should be doing well. I am also going out the 15th and 16th.

Wish me luck...any opinions?

Deer hunting to me is cruelty, I hate anyone who does it. I just don't understand why people would take away an animals life just for the pleasure of it. There are many people who hunt but some do not, what do you all think about it? I feel very very strongly about my decision on hunting because it is a bad thing to do to an animal. Tell me what you think about it and I will be thankfull. Thanks alot!

I have purchased a pocket warmer but unfortunately white gasoline or pure benzine is not available in our market. The regular benzine available in the market is normal benzine (Gasoline for the cars)

What kind of fuel can I use instead of white gasoline?

Can I use Acetone for the fuel?

I lived in Sitka, Alaska, I was out fishing for Halibut, I got a tug on the line, I set the hook, it took off, I slowed it up and started to reel it in, I got it to the surface, it took off again, that happened a number of times, it took me about 45 min.s to bring it in from first tug to land it, it was too big to pull it on the boat, I had to slowly tow it to land, gaff it, and drag it to land. I didn't weight it, but it had to weight at least 150 lbs. Now that was fun!

I tried to read through sites and blah, but none are really clear... Can someone tell me what I have to do/course take/blah blah to hunt deer? I am going with my Moms friend, and he will do the tags ETC. But I need to know basic rules. I was going to do some course, but I found out I will have to wait until January maybe later. I am 15, and clueless, and I really have tried but cannot get any clear answers....

I will be using my Uncles 12 gauge, which is actually a really nice shotgun around 800$ but hasn't been used since he died. I have all the gun cleaning etc. But I would like to find out EVERYTHING I can.. Also, about Hunting Knives ETC, because I can buy one for myself and need to know law about that, also.. SO ANY tips you can offer... Please. And you don't have to suggest about starting at a lesser gauge, though.. Also Like a good routine to follow. I read through a hunting rule book, but I would rather hear from real Hunters.

Thanks, Hunter.

(Yeah, Ironic but true.)

Not just a pocket knife, but a large hunting-style knife. Also, I'm talking about carrying it on the street, not while hunting.

I'm not a psychopath; I'm just wondering.

I was considering getting a lever action Marlin/Puma/or similar rifle for farm work, then hoping to carry it out to the deer stand too. Would 357 be an acceptable caiber to use? I like the idea of shooting .38s at work and loading up the .357s for the hunting. Or would I be better off with a .44 special and 44 magums ( and are they interchangeable in a rifle???)

Deer shots will be at 75 years or less. Opinions?

Greetings all! I spend a lot of time with a gun in my hand at my fish farm. My farm hands and I use the .17 HMR, Ruger .204, .22 and shotguns on a daily basis. Each gun has its own special purpose, but I'd like to consolidate down a little bit. I also occassionally carry my Bushmaster AR15 .223

We shoot/scare a lot of birds, typically cormorants and other wading birds ( YES I HAVE A PERMIT), making shots betwen 75-200 yards.

The 204 NEF Handi Rifle has the best range/accuracy combination, but the single shot action prohibits muliple shots in a reasonable time frame.

The 17 HMR is one of my favorites too, but wind can really impact the accuracy of that small bullet.

The farm is a wide open 150 acre space with manicured ponds, so all the shots are not affected by brush/trees.

The hands are very rough on weapons, so any piece must be rather sturdy. Does anyone have a reccomendation on a good weapon & caliber that could consolidate the beneifts into one gun?

Im attempting to build a budget Remington 700 long range rifle. Im doing this just to prove to someone that you can do sub moa for less than $500.00 ! I already have the rifle, just a standard 700ADL 24". I am tring to stay away from HS and Mc for the stock, while not even looking at the USS from Choate. Any ideas on a good bedded stock for less than $200.00 ?

I have also thought alot about optics as we all know, to make a thousand yard shot @ 10" we are going to need a good one. If anyone has any ideas on a budget scope out there that I may not be aware of Im all ears !

Remember guys, Im not doing this because Im broke, I know MC A5 & Leupold is my best bet, Im just tring to get it done at a normal cost. Thanks for the time and the feedback !

I'm wanting it to hunt elk, black bear, Maybe someday even a caribou. I'm thinking either a 300 win mag or a 7mm. When I go and look at them in my local gun shops they all tell me 30-06 is the most versicle. I just wondering if its because here in Iowa nobody stocks 300's or 7mm but they have many brands if 30-06. If they are just trying to sell me what they have. Help I don't want a 30-06 lol
