That depends on the shooter. A Crossbow is much easier to shoot, and requires less skill than a Compound Bow, but as far as accuracy that a hard question to answer. Compound Bows take skill to shoot and there are many things that affect the accuracy. A sloppy release or poor anchor point can cause inaccuracy easily, along with a poor grip on the Bow itself. A Crossbow doesn't require a practiced release, just a trigger pull to shoot a Bolt ( Crossbow Arrow) accurately. Both require that you be a good judge of distance though. There are other pro's and con's but the Crossbow is the much easier choice of the two for accuracy based on it's ease of use....

Thumbs up for JD
I think they are pretty close in the accuracy department when you compare a good crossbow to a compound. Some crossbows are more accurate than another for some reason I do not know (and it's not so much of an individual bow as it the brand or series of the bow).
It seems that all compounds have what it takes to shoot the same group --- doesn't matter if it's a matthews or an old fred bear whitetail hunter.
You do have to contend with trajectory though.
But JD is right that a crossbow is much easier for a novice to shoot good quickly. It's like shooting a gun, it really is.
Even in hunting applications a crossbow has the advantage of less movement. You can shoulder the bow (or at least get almost ready) at an eariler time without having to wear yourself out compared to holding a compound back for a minute.
A compound is drawn at close range and this is where a lot of people screw it up. When a compound hunter is just drawing back, a crossbow hunter could have a bolt on it's way.

I would say cross bows. I have heard many people say that the range for a crossbow is out to around 60-70 yards. I have heard a few people that say they can shoot to 50 yards with their compound. Obviously, it depends on the shooter when talking about the range of both. However, I would think the crossbow would be more accurate.
