I know an M1 Garand takes a clip and my Mom used to put them in her hair, but what's that thing called that holds the bullets in say, an m1911 as manufactured in 1912? I only ask the question to get enough points to actually give someone a correct answer.

so i've watched these hunting shows where they use certain animal devices to call out turkeys and such and it made me wonder what a human call would sound like.

any ideas?

The barrel is brand new stainless steel and I don't believe it to be rust b/c it is a brighter orange and spreads inside the grooves of the barrel very easily but then is a pain to remove.

Plenty of meat is available in the shops, so why kill live game? In the past it was different, but do you think that shooting at clay pigeons and targets would be the right thing to do?
Look whats happened to the animals in Africa because of the greedy rich's bloodthirsty "sport".
Culling in some places makes sense--it goes on in Scotland at the Queens balmoral grounds. I'd like to hear your opinions, thanks.

Ok, I made my decision to go with the Remington 870 12 gauge pump shotgun for hunting and home defense. (I live in Kansas)

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4665590

Is the 20" barrel good for home defense and hunting? I am going hunting with my friends and not exactly sure what they will be hunting, most likely a mix of different animals. Anyway, I thought that I could just use a barrel for home defense, and when I go hunting I can purchase a seperate barrel and just change them accordingly. What would be a good size barrel if the 20" is too short for hunting? What would be a good size barrel if the 20" is too long for home defense? And finally what other home defense/hunting accessories/ammo should I purchase while buying the gun? Thanks!

I will attempt to oil and grease my first baitcasting reel (Shimano Cardiff).

Which parts do I oil? Which parts do I grease?

The worm gear (I believe it is the small metal shaft that the line guide eye moves across to lay your line onto the spoll), is that to be oiled or lubed?

All other advice welcomed.

Thanks to all that reply.

I am looking at purchasing a single-shot rifle to add to my collection. The Ruger 1 look like great rifles but I'm trying to be a little price conscious.

I was thinking about the NEF/H&R Handi-Rifle in either .270, .308, or .243. Maybe even a niced varible power scope.

Any information and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Slow roasted goat or homemade wild boar brunswick stew?

I like cooking the goat wrapped in bannana leaves and spices in a ground oven.

The brunswick stew is cooked all day in a black pot outside. Makes all the neighbors really hungry.

If I served either would you come to my party??? If so, then what would you bring? Creativity gets the 10.

Does anyone have one of these? What do you think? I'm interested in what you thought of the rifle itself, accuracy, comparison to other Marlins, and comparison to the .308 Win. cartridge.

I am looking to upgrade/change my current pair of reels. I have often pondered what the differences are between FRONT drag and REAR drag reels. I am open to all comments relevant to the topic.

Also some recommendations of make, models and prices would be appreciated too.

My fishing style if the target chub and barbel on small to medium sized flowing rivers, using legering as opposed to float work.

Many thanks for taking the time to answer this question.

Can I use air gun legally to shoot squirrels in my yard? I don't eat them, but they kill all my flowers and make my garden mess. I am living in Louisiana.

Theoretically it seems like a good balance, but a lot of people seem to not be satisfied with it--either leaning toward a 9 mm or .45.

I'm considering a .40 for a first handgun since it seems it would be a good balance between the .9mm and .45.

Would you agree with this or is it better to stick with the .9 mm or .45 (if so I'm leaning toward the .45 --is this reasonable?)? Thanks.
