Does anyone have one of these? What do you think? I'm interested in what you thought of the rifle itself, accuracy, comparison to other Marlins, and comparison to the .308 Win. cartridge.

Here is an article in G & A magazine addressing your question:

Not the answer you were looking for probably but...

They tried this before, but called it the .307...it never went anywhere.

The .308 Winchester is a great rifle cartridge..why mess with perfection?

The .30-30 is already a good brush/deer lever gun caliber..

As for the XLR, I do not know. I know I like the 336CS in .30-30, as thats the only centerfire Marlin I have experience with.

I personally don't have any experience with this particular rifle, so I'm sorry to say I can't help you there.

But, if you're comparing the .308 Express to the .308 Winchester, I can offer some insight. If you want the best performing .308, go with the .308 Win. Trust me, you won't be sorry.

I'll keep my ears open for any info on this particular rifle and keep you posted though.

Hope this helps!

if you get one make sure you buy plenty of ammo or empty cases. I had a 5mm Remington mag (never heard of it?neather did any ammo dealers) I still have a 307 Winchester & bought a good supply of ammo & cases before I found out it shoots & ejects flat nose 308s just fine, you wont have that option with the marlin so stock up on 308 express ammo just in case some unfortunate individual actually buys one & will soon be willing to pay high prices for your ammo.
