I would probably get a Springfield XD in 9mm. I currently own a 9mm ported model but want a normal Service model for home protection and cheap target/range use. I mean cheap because 9mm is cheaper than the bigger rounds by me. I say the XD because in my opinion they are better than a lot of the semi-autos out there now. Don't get me wrong I like Beretta, Taurus, and there are a lot of fine handguns out there, but nothing fits better in my hand than an XD.
I would by a two-tone model with the flash/laser light.
But that's just me...Good luck....

I'd go to Academy Sporting Goods. There i'd pick up:
#1 A Mossberg 12 guage shotgun. Either a 500 or 835 Ulti-Mag.
#2 A Rossi stainless steel .357 revolver.
#3 A .22 rifle. Either a Ruger or Marlin. I prefer the Marlin but most guys won't.

There. Right at $700 spent. The next hundred bucks I came across would buy ammo.

Wow! What a broad question. Why not one of each?

Rifle: Dangerous game double-rifle in .470 Nitro Express (because I don't have one).

Revolver: A Colt Python 8" barrel .38 Special (only) target model (because I don't have one).

Autoloader: Another Glock Model 20 10mm (just because I want another one).

Shotgun: A good 10 gauge double (because I don't have one).

Uppps! Except for the the Glock and the 10 gauge $700 won't even make for a down payment. LOL!

Best.

Rifle - Probably a Savage mdl 10 in .308. Decent, accurate rifle. And I don't have a .308. . .

Revolver - A Colt King Cobra, .357 mag. Stainless. I see them for about $500 to $600. I could use the left over hundred for a nice holster.

Auto loader? I assume you mean a semi auto pistol - In that case I'd probably pick up one of the Taurus PT1911 for a bit over $500. The remaining two hundred will buy a nice belt and holster rig.

Shotgun - Hmmm, my dream shotgun is well over $5,000. For a paltry $700, I guess I'd try to fine a nice, used, Remington 11-87.

My choice would have to be a Mossberg 500 combo in 12ga. With the vent-rib barrel you could hunt everything from rabbit, squirrels and other small game to turkeys, waterfowl and upland birds. Switch to the slug barrel and you are ready for deer, bear and other big game. You could also use this gun for home defense if you needed to. A very versatile gun and reasonably priced. You'd have plenty of money left over from the $700 to buy ammo so you could practice and learn to be proficient with the gun.

From my local shop: A Remington 700 in .30-06 with a 4-12x40 Bushnell, and a S&W 39-2 in 9mm. That would leave just about enough for a box of rounds for each, and still be in under $700.

One of 3 choices for me,
A Stainless warthog by para-ord. in 45acp. Why? Because it's simply the best at doing what it does. A high cap compact 1911.

DJ beat me to this one, a Factory refurb Sig 220 45acp. Probably the best defensive 45acp on the planet.

If I could find a decent used one. a CZ Dan Wesson Pointman Seven 1911 , probably best under a thousand full custom 1911 out there, bar none.

It depends on what you already have. If I were to have that to spend... I would get either an 1100 in 28ga, or a .45-.70 Marlin guide gun.

I would get a Thompson Center Encore. If it is not the pro hunter model you will still have enough money to mount a decent scope on it as well.

Get yourself a slightly used police trade-in SIG Sauer P229. You will never, ever regret that you spent your money on it, you can sell it for what you paid (how many guns can say that?) and you will be the owner of the finest pistol in the world.....
