You need a pure silver bullet to get the job done.

Some years ago in Guns Magazine, I saw an article about a Werewolf / Vampire Revolver. The gun was a Colt Detective Model .38 SPL. It had full coverage engraving with werewolf, vampire and super natural motif. It was cased in a coffin shaped oak case and there were 24 cartridges loaded with silver bullets included. Not only were the bullets silver, but they were molded into fantastic shapes representing vampires and werewolves.

On a less fantastic scale, I've seen cased pistol sets aimed that the 18th and 19th Century travelers headed to Eastern Europe. The sets included a brace of large bore single-shot pistols (generally between .40 and .577 caliber), either flintlock or percussion depending upon the time of origin, and a full complement of tools for the care and feeding or fine single-shot pistols, and a quantity of silver bullets. These cased sets were advertised as being just the ticket to defend oneself from werewolves and vampires.

A werewolf, eh? Most here will tell ye need a silver bullet to kill a werewolf. I tell ye different. Hollywood got it wrong. Silver is for vampires for they are the undead, cursed creatures they be! Silver be ah blessed metal in as much as our dear Lord was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. So silver ye need to kill a vampire.

A werewolf is a living creature so ye can kill it by means ordinary. Happy Halloween! LOL!

The answer of course is Silver. Which raises another question, If silver bullets are used to kill werewolves and the Lone Ranger carried silver bullets, Is there a problem with Tonto or was it another the masked man feared?

Having once had an interest in the subject I can tell you that you must find out where your werewolf is from. Different cultures Kill them differantly.
There are also differant types of werewolfs, some come from cursed families, being punished for a past deed. These are usually killed quite easily. Others seem to be protected by a demonic force and are much harder to kill.
A silver weapon of some sort will usually do the job, provided it's been blessed by a Priest, important note, the preist must be of the werewolfs faith, not yours.
With little fear of contradiction, I can say that a person who knows they are a werewolf is harder to kill than a person who doesn't know of their affliction.
General rule of thumb is that, in human form, you can kill them as you would a normal human. In wolf form they may or may not require a bit of extra attention. In the half wolf, half man form they are extremely hard to kill. Walking around in that form speaks of someone who is aware of their condition and as such, is more aware of the powers available to tap into.
The half and half form is, from my reading, usually reserved for use in proveing your worth to your demonic overlord. There is a legend of a castle deep in the French forrest where witches are made to gather, they then transform to the half and half form and stand with their back to the wall and jump up and back to gain entrance to the castle. Satan shows favor to those who get in first.
There may be no need to kill your werewolf, if cursed they will likely revert to human form in a year or so and not really bear any grudge towards other humans, still I've always wanted a rug made from one. Also, be sure you are really dealing with a were-WOLF, there are many types of lycanthropes lurking about in the dimmly lit halls of human legend.

I would say Silver....
But I'm saying go with a compact atomic bomb with the miniature fusion chamber and reactor my friend Superawesomechemist from the chemistry section will make in the future. Add a bit of silver for a coating, along with a piece of a stake. Then you'll probably be good.
For real bullets, I would go with (Thanks to the page below which I just Googled (NOT YAHOO'D. YAHOO SUXORZ) up), I'd go with a Lead WadCutter, THV, AP, or a Hydrashock.

Silver is the correct metal used; I prefer to load it up in shotgun shells as a werewolf moves fast and the spread of shot gives you a better chance.

A silver bullet, dipped in the blood of a virgin, and blessed by the Pope. Or a hollow point. Either one.
