Italy and the US would both have 4 points and each would have 3 goals for and 4 goals against.

I know hardly anything about Soccer or the rules of the game, but I noticed the USA team got a draw with Italy in their last match. I notice the Czechs and Italy play each other for their next game. If Italy wins and the US wins, it would put the US a point ahaid of the Czech Republic and they would move on.

However, the thing that confuses me is if there is a draw and the US wins. The US would be tied with the Czech Republic. Italy could possibly lose their match, with the US winning theirs, and there would be a tie between Italy and the US in the standings.

What would happen in the event of a tie?

I tried today to get into it, because my Americans were playing Italy and I wanted to support them, but my God after three hours of watching, they ended up in a 1-1 tie. What a waste of time! How can they end a game in a tie? No wonder Americans don't watch soccer. What a snoozefest! Boring!

With the Italian ref scandal, the recent example of badly flawed judging in figure skating just a few years ago and the abysmal refing at the world cup, especially in the american-italian game, the ability to sub out a ref seems to be an idea that may become necessary.

Then everyone has the same points and the same goals.
Somebody told me that they'd have to play again, but then the eightel final would be later. :/

Hockey referees will call 2 minutes for hooking, then give the player that "embellishes" the hook 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. In watching a little of the world cup, it seems like the players collapse just about any time they're even brushed up against, whine and beg the referee for a call. Wouldn't this stop if there were fouls called for diving?

please explain why after Gha wins over Cze, many commentators and articles said that it helps the US team that ieven if the Italy wins over the US, the Italy team won't advance to second round and the US team won't be eliminated from advancing either. The words : " No team will advance, no team will be eliminated even if USA will loose to the Italy". Thanks.

I have always feared that towards the knockout stages, soon coming, referees begin to take charge of games and begin to influence their outcame. Have we already started to see that with the USA - ITALY game ? Are we on another 2002 World Cup ? Remember the South Korea 2002 saga... that whichever country played S. Korea the referee weakened them to increase the chances of Korea winning ?! Korea knocked out the best teams in the world... including Spain, Portugal, Italy...They should have been the 2002 champions, not Brazil, LOL ! Something very peculiar was going on in the USA - ITALY match today... With 9 and 10 men, neither team knew what to do anymore !! Their tactics and plans completely gone out of the window... "WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW..." and "NOW I SHOULD PASS THE BALL TO THAT GUY BUT HE IS NOT THERE... ONLY SPACE ".....
