Not Everyone wants the USA to lose....that is a rude & unfair statement...people need to be more patriotic and support the country they live in and are born in. USA is one of the most free countries you will find. There are to many negative people in the USA like around the world... Not every one hates George Bush, how long has he been in power?...do some homework and then answer your own question.

Because before any competition the US trash-talks. They are unpopular because Americans are considered arrogant and self-righteous.

Also, who would want a team to win when its own country looks down in disdain at the "beautiful game" i.e. football (soccer). For e.g. when Arena called T&T the whipping boys of the World Cup and they have proven themselves to be anything but.

Also, their football (soccer) team sucks. I don't care if their ranked 5th in the world by FIFA, that means nothing. That's just a joke. They play in the CONCACAF region against really lame teams. Teams ranked lower the USA are known to better than they are.

Here is an example. I'm Macedonian and I do not want US to lose.
US is a big population country and should have a strong soccer team, but maybe in future. It's all about practicing and tradition.Soccer in US doesn't have it enough. For instance, every child in Brasil plays soccer from the very begining of his childhood.Children in US prefer baseball. Those are simple reasons !!! In a competence, Macedonia do have a soccer tradition, but it is a very small country with small financial power into soccer business.

Team USA has no chance of winning. The team is just not good enough. Other countries live, breath, sleep, soccer 24/7.

Aside from the U.S. be a world superpower, I would say that soccer is not a popular sport in the U.S. and its citizens do not take as much pride in the sport as in many other countries where the sport is part of their national identity and culture. The U.S. is known for American Football and baseball, not soccer. The rest of the world wants to have something for itself where the U.S. does not dominate.

I don't think its so much they want USA to lose... its just that the USA sucks at football (soccer) and people want their own country to win

football (soccer) fans tend to be pretty passionate and agressive about suporting their team and puttign down whoever is up against them

There is a reason that US team is not good enough to be in the world cup.
American people are not respectable around the world and the only thing is that they are believed to be the best in the world....It's totally wrong because they are the worse in the world.
Bad luck

I think its is because of the overall attitude . For example on the forum if Americans can not be number 1 at a game they accuse the game of sucking . EVen at most sportting events with canada they bew the canadian national anthem ....We all have our fav teams but it shows poor sportsmanship the way you act

Plain and simple. Jealousy. Plus it is fashionable around the world today to hate America until some form of natural disaster levels their homeland and then its "When will America help us?"

Maybe because people think the USA has been pretty much overrated, they are ranked 5th in the world! Even Argentina are ranked below them.
