Baseball - September 2007

in the final month and have trouble winning their division. I like the red sox and everything but im sick and tired watching this team getting to a great star during the first 5 months of the season, but in septembe they always find way to lose thier lead in their division and let those hated yankees always have the final laugh and with the division.
IS JUST FRUSTRATED TO SEE IT HAPPEN YEAR AFTER YEAR.

how bout the Angels? they've been awfully quiet for the past couple of weeks and they've been under everyone's radar

They have quietly compiled a 90-62 record to tie Cleveland for the best record in the league with all the injuries they've sustained with the lineup, bullpen, starting rotation, etc

do they have a good shot of winning the world series?

I think it does, if only for the Psyche of the Red sox, i mean, Losing a 14.5 game Lead is bad, but honestly i think the worst part is they would be losing it to the Yankees.... I think they need to win the division, if only for the team and Fans own Sanity

It is a framed picture of the ticket stub (which was down in front) and also a copy of the front page of the paper saying they won. The paper is shrunk down in size to fit the frame but the ticket stub is fully original. How much do you think you could get out of something like that? Thanks!

I realize that they could lose 30 in a row and still be at .500, but they have played 150 games, 75W-75L would be .500. A team at 90-60 would have a 15-game lead in the standings over a team at 75-75, they are 15 games over .500, not 30.

for the $18 million per season they are paying him over the next 7 years, i'm not really sure he's putting up numbers that correspond to that salary level. I think the biggest problem is, Lou Piniella does not know where to bat Soriano in the line-up. Batting him lead off gets him hits and solo home runs, but not a lot of RBI's. As it stands now, on Sept . 20th, with 9 games left in the season, Soriano has played in 127 Games, 544 At Bats, 89 Runs, 159 Hits, 38 Doubles, 5 Triples, 28 HR's, 59 RBI's, and batting, .292. His numbers aren't terrible. But for a guy who they are basically making their franchise player and paying him all that money, I don't see 28 HR's and 59 RBI's as big numbers. I would've thought the Cubs wanted to see numbers more in the range of 40 HR - 120-130 RBI's. What happened to all of his RBI's? and HR's? Isn't Wrigley Field a hitters ballpark and Homer ballpark, look at all the HR hitters who played there, Ernie Banks, Sandberg, Sosa.

Before the Red Sox got Gagne, the bullpen had a good rhythm with Okajima in the 8th and Papelbon in the 9th. Then they acquired Gagne and it seems the bullpen has been going downhill ever since.

Albert Pujols of the St.Louis I hear might be shut down the rest of the season do to a strained left calf. This would really suck as a Cardinals fan cause Pujols is the only player to ever play in 6 straight season with 30 plus home runs and 100 rbi's. Pujols yes does have 31 home runs this year but his rbi total is under the remarkable 100 rbi's as he has 94 and need 6. Still tho he will have continued 1 record which is 30 plus homers each of his first 6 season and almost 7 season now. IN yeard to come does any 1 out there season Pujols breaking the all time home run record that belongs to Barry Bonds? Does Pujols already disver.. to make the Hall of Fame for what he has done? ^ season with 30 plus home runs and 100 plus rbi's and well now 7 season with 30 plus home runs? I think in my personal option that Pujols should make the Hall of Fame for the GREAT numbers he has put up so far in his major league years that just started as Pujols hits his prime time!!

The Cleveland Indians have the best record in Baseball, have won 20 of there last 25 games, have a legitemit Cy Young candidate, who, with a little luck, can pull out 20 wins this year, and just destroyed the Tigers in a 3 game sweep. Anyone change their mind about the Tribe's chances in the Playoffs? Because it is not just IF, but WHEN they clinch, arguably the best division in baseball for the 7th time in 13 years.

Just a basic "opinion" question I guess...If the Indians have the best record in the AL, or at least a better record than LA, and host the Wild Card Yankees on either Wedensday or Thursday, what are the chances it would be a day game vs. night game. I have tickets to the Tribe's first "home" game, and I really want it to be at night b/c of work. I know the Yanks are usually picked for prime time for ratings. What are your opinions? Pretty much the other case scenerio, if we don't have home field advantage, is that the game (game 3 by this point) would probably be on Sunday and that's perfect. Seeing as how the Tribe will either play Boston or NY, these are the only 2 scenarios I can come up with. Let me know what you think!

All season long you yankee fans were screaming "remember 1978?!" looks like you may have been right, and could win the division...but my question is:

Do you remember 2004?
Seems to me that 2004 was a worse choke job then 1978. Seems to me that the yankees had a 3-0 game lead on their arch rivals, The Boston Red Sox, and they came back and slammed the yankees.

DO YOU REMEMBER THAT?

Yes, history does a have of repeating itself!

Those 2 teams have the longest drought in winning a WS.
Cleveland's last time was 1948.
and we all The Cubs haven't won since 1908.

I, for one, think they should go back to old time ball and make everybody hit for themselves. And to keep on that same note, do you think that a DH could/should ever win the MVP award? And while I'm on a rant-why do they let colleges use metal bats? Not much bothers me more than that "ping" instead of the crack of a REAL bat.
