All season long you yankee fans were screaming "remember 1978?!" looks like you may have been right, and could win the division...but my question is:
Do you remember 2004?
Seems to me that 2004 was a worse choke job then 1978. Seems to me that the yankees had a 3-0 game lead on their arch rivals, The Boston Red Sox, and they came back and slammed the yankees.
DO YOU REMEMBER THAT?
Yes, history does a have of repeating itself!

I remember 1978 like it was yesterday....I have not forgotten 2004...the difference is the pitching...they did not have it then(04) and never did I think the Red Sox were finished then because of this....the Yankees in 1978 pretty much rode the tail of Ron Guidry.....the Sox were something like 13-14 games ahead in August!!...they choked so bad that they had to win the last 7 games in a row just to get to the "Bucky Dent" game...1978 was a choke.....2004 was good pitching especially by Schilling with the "bum" foot....for the matter of "irritation"...they gave the MVP to Jim Rice of the Sox that year....they lost the lead with him in the line-up.....they would have lost it without him....where was the "MVP" in that season by him...."STATS".....Guidry should have been the MVP...no way that the Yankees could have been there without him on the pitching staff.......the MVP is a joke it goes to whomever is having the great season.....would the Yankees be where they are at without A-Rod....I think they would.....the MVP should be "Papi"...no way that they would even be close without him on the team....rambling a little bit of the subject "Georgie"....just that 1978 always Pi#*!#me off when it comes up for discussion and they way the select the MVP....my MVP in the National side is the rookie on the Brewers that starts with B (Bruagh???)...that kid has kept them in the mix since he came up...he should be Rookie of the Year and MVP as well!!.....but no, 1978 was a much bigger choke versus 2004!!..GO YANKEES! STINKIN RED SOX!

HISTORY DOES REPEAT ITS SELF. I WAS A SOPHOMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I CUT FOR THE DAY JUST TO WATCH THE GAME. PEOPLE TAKE THE YANKEES FOR GRANTED THEY ARE AN AWESOME TEAM.On July 19, 1978, the New York Yankees woke up to find themselves 14 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the American League's East Division. The team had been mired in a low-grade slump all season long, and seemed more concerned about the next throwdown between Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson than they were about winning baseball games.

here is what I said in the last 1978 post, which was about 5 seconds ago.
It's kind of like how Minnesota took the Division from the Tigers last year but they still both went to the playoffs, and the Wild Card Tigers ended up in the World Series. So it could be a 2006, were the Yankees win the Division, but the Red Sox go to the series you never know.
Dude you shouldn't switch your logo man, you should support your Tigers until the last game.

In geology we have a saying "The past is the key to the present" when archiving past geological events one anomaly does not constitute what is deemed to be irrefutable scientific fact ... in other words... a once a century occurrence means that the 100 year rule definitely applies here in the case of the Boston Red Sox. It is only logical!

Milton I am surprised you are that old that you can remember all those championships and still able to use the Internet...
All those championships and still can't get past the stigma of 2004... a few innings away from sweeping and you blew it... you're starting to look like the Braves of the '90's, but at least they won a World Series by the fifth year of the decade...
(I'm NOT a Red Sox or Mets fan)...

Yes history does have a way of repeating itself, but let's repeat 1978 first, before we repeat 2004. LOL.
