Don Zimmer wore #14 for the 1962 Cincinnati Reds, the last to wear it before Pete Rose began wearing it in 1963. He last played for the Reds on Sept. 7, 1962.

Tommy Harper also wore #14 for a few games for the Reds in 1962, but early in the season before Zimmer joined the team.

Although the number 14 has not been retired by the Reds, no one other than Rose, and his son, Pete Rose, Jr. (in 1997) (Thanks Chipmaker) has worn it since.

Others who wore #14 for the Reds before 1962 include Willie Jones ('59-61), Rocky Bridges ('53-57), Sammy Meeks ('49-51), Claude Corbitt ('46,'48-49), Eddie Miller ('47), Chuck Aleno ('44), Art Jacobs ('39), Hank Johnson ('39), Elmer Riddle ('39), Chick Hafey ('37), Calvin Chapman ('36), Adam Comorosky ('35), Paul Derringer ('34), and Si Johnson ('32-33).

Not entirely accurate... #14 was worn briefly in 1997 by Pete Rose, Jr.
