Baseball - August 2007

I don't care about what all the haters say. There will always be haters. They've already set in their minds to hate Bonds and it would be a waste of time to change their minds. Bonds, no matter what happened IS the best hitter in MLB before and after the controversies. If you're going to blame someone, blame Bud Selig. And for all those hypocrite fans who boo Bonds because they think he took steroids, well how do you know that none of your players in your teams are taking it too?

People say they don't like him because he's not nice, well at least he's not fake like other people out there.

We just witnessed history here in the Bay Area and we're rejoicing. Other fans in other stadiums can boo all they want. That's their problem, it takes more effort and energy to hate. Too bad.

Selig was the picture of tackiness and disrespect. Hank Aaron was the picture of class.

So, now how do you feel? And how does this make the commissioner look?

It was a technicality, but it was a biggie.

What FACT did Jon Miller mis-state?

If it was mentioned that Babe Ruth was on steroids or anything else that enhanced his abilities, would fans still think of him as they do today. Or would he be ridiculed as Barry Bonds is

Does Barry Bond's race play a role in determing if he should be the home run king. Or do many people just dislike him because of the opinion that he allegedly took steroids and other performance enhancing drug paraphernalias to help him get to the top.

I was 'basking' in the 'glory' that is Barry Bonds, and thought to myself... we all know Hank Aaron owned this record before Barry, and Alex Rodriguez will probably own it soon after Barry's reign is done, and everyone (especially including the racist whites in the 1970s who threatened Aaron's life over his record chase) knows that George Herman 'Babe' Ruth owned the record before Hammerin' Hank, but whose record did the Babe break??? Surely this total couldn't have been more than a couple hundred or so (putting whoever it was in the company of Matt Stairs and Cliff Floyd), but I cannot stop thinking about this now. Who was the king of homeruns before Babe Ruth broke the record??

I looked up some fielding percentages of what many consider to be the best CFs ever. Ready?
Willie Mays .981
Duke Snider .986
Tris Speaker .970
Mickey Mantle .979
Ty Cobb .961
Andruws career FP is .990. If you can find 10 CF with better FP's, I want to see them.

Will Bud Selig or Hank Aaron be on hand when they induct Bonds to the hall of Fame? Or should I say, his personal Hall of Shame.
