Selig was the picture of tackiness and disrespect. Hank Aaron was the picture of class.
So, now how do you feel? And how does this make the commissioner look?

Vort... oh really Hank Aaron said that? Can you please provide me with a link to this quote. I would really love to read it. I would think if he made such a quote, and still sent a message to congratulate Barry on becoming the career home rum leader... that would make Hank a hypocrite. Somehow, I don't see it.

Mets "drool" you are a classless, tacky buffoon. But what do you expect from a fan of "the team from Queens." Go back and celebrate the 1986 World Series... Strawberry, Hernandez, Gooden, Dykstra... yeah what a great group of cokeheads and law breakers that team had!

Hank Aaron looks like the class act he has always been, and Bud Selig looks like a jerk.
Whether Barry took steroids or not--and no one knows that for sure--it's definite he hasn't taken them this year, and this is the year he broke the record. He's 43 years old, and he's still hitting massive home runs. Most 43-year-old guys couldn't even stand in the batter's box against major league pitching, much less hit it. And you could give thousands of other players steroids and they wouldn't be able to hit like Barry. So people (like the other guy who answered already) have to get off that point.
I was at the game, and two hours later, my ears are still ringing from the deafening noise. It was great, it was touching, it was thrilling--one of the best baseball moments EVER.

eJay writes >>Bud what could you of had that was more important then this. You are the commissioner.
He was in Milwaukee meeting with George Mitchell about the steroid probe. I half-expected something to come out before the game. That would have been funny.
As much as I didn't want to see Barroids break the record (mainly because I'm a Dodger fan and hate the Giants), I'm actually glad Selig didn't show up to the game after seeing his reaction to 755. I agree with Braves announcer Pete Van Wieren and his comment at the start of Sunday's Braves-Rockies game. He and Skip Caray were talking about 755 and Pete said, "That was the best non-reaction reaction I've ever seen." What would Bud have done during 756? Decide he had to go pee?

Bud always looks horrible...he calls arod when he hits 500 but doesnt say anything to bonds about tying or breaking the record...what a joke. And as for Hank, the way I see it, he only sent that message to take all the hype from Barry when he broke the record so people would say how classy that was of him...Cause he has been nothing but negative about this whole thing for months

I dont think Selig looks bad at all. He attended many of games for the last two weeks including the record tying game. He made an honest effort in trying to be there . Cant say the same for the C'mish that made NO attempts to see Aaron pass Ruth. Selig put forth alot more effort than Aaron did. I mean, how hard is it to make a tape and have it played. We dont even know when it was made do we?
And for those that say that Aaron was not there because he was opposed to the record because of Barry/steroids, are talking out the side of their necks. Aaron has held to his statement that he does not consider Bonds to have taken roids, and will continue that stance until it is proven. Dont put words in his mouth that are not true to make your hate for Bonds valid.

All I could say was WOW. When Hank gave his message to Barry it was perfect. Only one person could pass the crown on and he did. Thanks Hank for being a class act.
Bud what could you of had that was more important then this. You are the commissioner. So unless someone in you family is ill and you had to be with them. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. Guess what happens to me if I don't show up to my Job. I get FIRED !!!! It was your job to be at the Game

Of course Hank Aaron demonstrated class. Having class was prized more than gold in his generation, and unfortunatly most people in the younger generations lack it.
That being said, Selig has a responsibility to the sport itself and not to anyone individual. Not taking sides on the issue personally, but I certainly understand his position.

i think the commissioner would of been better if he didnt attend the games! He bearly reacted and if anything he looked disapointed that Bonds tied and broke it. I think Hank Aaron took it the best way. All I got to say is f**k off Selig. And congratulations to Barry Bonds on 756! NO ASTRUS!
Go Tigers.

Hank Aaron did it because it was his record, Aaron said he thinks its crap that Bonds broke his record because the steroids, i dont look at Selig any different because Bonds is a cheater and Selig knows it, so screw him being there for Bonds, i bet he'll congradulate A-Rod when he breaks the record.

The Commish had a representative there. Selig called to congratulate him. The commish did fine.
Demanding a certain behavior from someone you have no control over is stupid.
