How can major league hitters not pound Wakefield that thing looks like a beach ball?

his knuckle ball has too much movement on it. His fastball is'nt all that fast though. The more thte ball moves, the harder it is to hit it. O and by the way the sox are gonna win it all this year.

You ever try to hit a good knuckleball? I have and it can make you look foolish. !@#$ thing looks like it's gonna be up in the strike zone, kinda turns over once, then it's at your ankles. Major league hitters have pounded Wakefield at times, cuz it ain't always that easy a pitch to throw either.

Given the lack of speed and the movement of the knuckleball, it is a very difficult pitch to hit. Hitters get impatient or the ball drops off the table. Phile Niekro got into the hall of fame throwing the knuckler.

Movement is actually more important than speed at that level, and the Wakefield knuckler definitely has plenty of movement. It's hard to get a good bat on the ball when you don't know where the ball is going to end up.

Have you ever seen or had a knuckleball thrown to you? You must not have before because youd be surprised what you can do with a baseball. I learned my knuckleball (im not a pitcher so it doesnt matter, they are just fun to throw haha) from SI for kids haha. His knuckleball moves all over the place and it sinks. Its very hard to hit it. And his knuckleball sets up his other pitches. Ask someone who knows how to throw a good knuckleball to throw it to you, then youll know why.

anyone can hit speed, but when you mix it up with slower pitches, it throws the batter off. wakefield has a nasty knuckle ball and it comes to the batter totally unexpected.

It's because of the speed. Most people under-estimate it, thinking it will be faster, but the swing way too early.
