Well, tonight he did it legit. There's no reason to think he has taken anything this year, right? And we will probably never know what actually happened in that one year people talk about. Nevertheless, Barry was hitting homers before that year and is still hitting them at 43 years of age, so I'd say he earned this record. The other thing people forget to mention is that many if not most of the players in MLB were taking steroids at that time, so the pitchers he hit against were taking them, his teammates, guys on other teams--he was not alone. In fact, even according to the most critical reports, he held out far longer than anyone else. But if you feel that everyone around you is getting an advantage that you don't have, sooner or later you would cave in, too.

Let me tell you this: I was at the game tonight, and it was one of the most thrilling moments you can imagine. From the start of the game, in fact, every fan stood up every single time Barry came to bat. It was very, very cool and a night I will never forget.

Whatever is said on this site aside, if the reaction tonight at Angels Stadium is any indication and it was the one thing Red Sox and Angel fans could agree upon, baseball fans do not like the fact that Barry Bonds is the new home run king. 44,000 fans booed in unison when the stadium video showed Bonds' home run. Now our hope as fans is for Alex Rodriguez, a player loathed in Boston and Toronto, to be able to break Bonds' record. Now that is a sad comment.

I think everyone should shut up about is the record "tainted". Its the same record as yesterday, just a new leader. As Americans we believe in the innocent until proven guilty theory. Barry has never tested positive for anything, but people still act like he has tested positive for everything!

Of course Bonds had lots of "help" breaking Aaron's homerun record. He even admitted to taking steroids.

not guilty until misuse is proven. and anyway, steroids don't hit homeruns. you still need the eye and the right technique. Barry is great!
