If it was mentioned that Babe Ruth was on steroids or anything else that enhanced his abilities, would fans still think of him as they do today. Or would he be ridiculed as Barry Bonds is

Steroids were not readily available back then (in the Babe era), but cocaine was, and I hear Babe liked it as much as he like booze and hot dogs.

Hank had his little green pills (speed). Steroids were available in Hank's time. Not saying he did them, but he has admitted to taking amphetamines. Is that not cheating??

Yet, everyone calls these guys Saints and CLEAN. Hogwash.

None of the guys back then were scrutinized as they are now, so we don't really know what they did. Hitler was a speed freak, so don't tell me that does not enhance your performance.

Babe was before steroids or Amphetamines, but he was not before cocaine or whatever may have been around then. There is always something.

But most people want to believe these guys were totally clean and that Barry is the worst guy in the world because of the suspicions upon him.

I guess in everyone but Barry's case, people actually want to believe in innocence. Very strange..

That's an extremely hypothetical question considering there was no such thing as steroids when Babe Ruth played

Anyway, no he wouldn't be ridiculed because he's been dead for 60 years

If it came out while he was playing then yes, probably

EDIT:
It's estimated that amphetamines, or "greenies," were used by 60-80% of players. Steroids were used by 15% of players.

Additionally, greenies do not enhance performance. They just give you energy so you can get through a 162 game schedule. I find it laughable that some people try to put this on the same level as steroids.

Like all of us else says, he actually lived off of warm dogs and beer. Which makes me think of, why do no longer gamers in recent times only eat warm dogs and drink beer........besides, steroids weren't invented till the 1930's, so the respond on your question is not any. no longer till he had a time gadget and went into the destiny.

I think people really wouldn't care only because if he was you can't take him off of the most HR record. I heard that he was drunk almost every game he played.
