My son has recently decided he wants to collect baseball cards (new ones), and I am so confused by the different brands. Topps for example is so much more expensive then, say Upper Deck, for significantly less cards. There are many other brands as well. Prices are very different as well as the number of cards in a pack. Is there any reasoning behind this?
Also I notice some cards are signed (not really thought, the signatures are printed on there). Does this really effect how valuable the card is, or is this justs a ploy to get you to pay more?

People who know about baseball cards, and possibly collect them too... please comment!

Thanks

This would be they won the WS as managers of the winning teams, not they won as players then became managers later.

I'm not sure this has ever been done. If you can help, I'd like to know their names, the teams they managed and the years.
Thanks.

Why do people keep insisting that steroids/HGH or whatever does not help with hitting when after years of testing, the Balco steroids expert explained that it DOES to Bob Costas? Of couse after that interview, Bonds called Costas 'a little midget'! Getting a little defensive there Barroid?

ok the Barry Bonds debate rages... i just saw an answer that described BB as a lifetime .280 hitter... fair enough... then they took a shot at his 73HR season and .350 BA...

but why are these totals... juiced or not... seemingly fair... any guy who hits 73 Jacks is gonna get walked a hell of a lot as well so why does this make sense to me and not the person who wrote it...

oh and my real question is... even if he did juice... how at 375yrs old has he hit as many as he has this year???

guide has him listed at 6' 262#. There is no way in hell he is only 262#. He looks around 310#. This guy is huge. Way bigger than his dad Cecil was at his young age of 23. Prince needs to lose some weight, or he won't be around to see 30. His agent and the Brewers should have a talk with him. It is the responsibility of the organizations to ask their players to be slim. A lot of times there are clauses in their contracts to not go over a certain weight. They should do the same with umps. The MLB media guide is a joke. They have David Wells listed at 6' 4" 245, there is NO WAY he's 245. he is more like 295.

For a while Tom Glavine was famous for never having given up a grand slam, but I'm pretty sure he gave one up a few years ago. Does anyone know who hit it off him and when? I can't seem to find the answer to this question anywhere, even though it seems like it would be a pretty common piece of trivia.
