This would be they won the WS as managers of the winning teams, not they won as players then became managers later.

I'm not sure this has ever been done. If you can help, I'd like to know their names, the teams they managed and the years.
Thanks.

Tony La Russa and Sparky Anderson are only two managers to win a World Series title in both leagues.

LaRussa also won the world series with the Okland A's three times from 1988-1990.

Sparkey Anderson won with the REDS in 1975 and in 1984 with the Tigers

Sparky Anderson was the first manager to win in both leagues, winning with the '75 and '76 world series with the Cincinnati Reds and winning the '84 world series with the Detroit Tigers.
Tony La Russa recently became the second manager to accomplish the feat by winning the '06 world series with the St. Louis Cardinals and previously winning the '89 world series with the Oakland Athletics.

Folks have given you the names, I'll add the years.

Sparky Anderson
NL Cincinnati Reds 1975, 1976
AL Detroit Tigers 1984

Tony LaRussa
AL Oakland Athletics 1989
NL St. Louis Cardinals 2006

Jim Leyland's Marlins won in 1997 and he currently runs the Tigers, so he could become the third.

I believe Tony La Russa did with the Oakland A's and also with the St. Louis Cardinals.

forgot about good ole Sparky.

I'm sure there are others we all forgot too.

I was going to say Pinella but I looked it up and he won 1 as a manager with Cinci.

Sparky Anderson did it with Cincinnati and Detroit, didn't he? Tony La Russa might have. St. Louis and Oakland, but I'm not real sure.
