Renteria, didn't sign d lowe or pedro and got wells and wade miller who were hurt and old anyway... jd drew, lugo, and the 4 ss that aren't in Boston anymore and are ws mvp (ekstein) , rookie of the year& leading NL ba (Ramirez), 5th in nl ba (renteria)and (oc) the one who fit in Boston and batting 304..... will mo fr bronson... and the latest... a young lefty and a good young outfielder fr nothing a old pitcher who hasn't pitched a full season in the last 3 years and hasn't really pitched in 2 years!!! When what the sox really needed was a clutch pinch hitter with speed... Dave Roberts type guy...

this guy blows it every year... the 04 trade that was good... but he didn't keep OC and that is stupid... and then the starter thing.. there wasn't a #1 in 05 and the sox would have had the division if they had a #1 and drew? lugo? are you kidding me... joel pinero, Theo signs deadweights...

Chanclito.. dude they already HAD a untouchable bullpen... they need a bat! They won' go anywhere in the playoffs if they can't start hitting... hell they might not even make the playoffs if they don't start hitting.. I've seen this choke in August stuff before and I really really don't like it.. and this one is theo's fault.. and so was 2005! Gange sucks!

Well the Sox are the best team in the AL right now and are most everybody's favorites for the World Series so I dont see what you are so upset about. I mean the Sox are having a tremendous year and that's without huge years from Manny and Big Papi. Josh Beckett has been phenomenal and signing a guy like Dice K was just the kind of move needed to make it a great pitching staff. Of course he has traded away some young stars away but I mean it's all about winning now, not winning in a couple of years.

If you're John Henry, you figure to give Theo several benefits of the doubt. He did what no GM has done since 1918.
Your point, I think, is that with the amount that the Red Sox spend every year, even Fred Flintstone might have gotten lucky. The fact is that a baseball team is 25 + individuals and turning them, however talented, into a cohesive and winning team is not science or art, no matter what Billy Beane or Bill James think.

We got Beckett and Lowell for Ramirez. Great trade for Boston, they'd do it again in a second.
Bronson Arroyo is 5-12 this season. He's awful.

dude, don't harp on gagne. you say he hasn't pitched in two years, then what do you consider his entire year at Texas this year? I mean he pitched quite a bit as a regular closer for them while their set-up/closer was hurt. Gagne did very well for the Rangers and he will end up as a good post-season addition for the Red Sox bullpen.
With depth like that in the bullpen, they'll be untouchable!

Yes, I agree he has made some bad moves when it comes to SS, but those others you mentioned are not really big deals. He got you Beckett. You could have kept Hanley but you wouldn't have Josh and Mike Lowell. I mean, you have to choose.
