So I was thinking if you went through the history of the Seattle Mariners and picked the best player for each position at the peak of their career, what would the team look like? Here is what I have, tell me your thoughts:

1b Alvin Davis
2b Harold Renolds
SS A-Rod
3B Edgar
OF: Griffey Jr, Buhner, Ichiro
C: Dan Wilson
P: Randy Johnson

Could the reason for the Yankees downward slide be the Curse of Suzyn Waldman, and being stuck in "Georges Bawks"?

O my goodness.... goodness gracious!

Hideki Matsui LF, NY Yankees is in the second year of his 4 year, 52 million dollar contract. He has a "no trade clause". I have heard rumors of Matsui being traded to Los Angeles, but I do understand that uninformed baseball fans and media make up these things from time to time, to sound like they know inside info. I am wondering if anyone has heard anything about Matsui being interested in a trade? Since only he can authorize any transaction.

We all know how horrible the Yankees are doing this season with all those superstars. We all know how much George Steinbrenner likes to spend spend spend. The Yankees are notorious for getting great players to join the darkside.

Ive been hearing that my White Sox may trade Jermaine Dye for Bobby Abreu (NOOOOO), that the Yankees may be interested in getting rid of Johnny Damon, and that they are looking at Mark Teixeira. Who will leave the Evil Empire and who will be the newest guy in Pinstripes after the trade deadline?

I see Ken Griffey Jr. may start in the outfield and David Wright will probably start at third over Miguel Cabrera. What a joke.

Why is Joe Saunders of the Angels always being promoted to triple A. I have been following this guy for years, he has a solid record last year pitching a very solid game against the Yankees. This year he is 3-0 with like 5 quality starts yet keeps being demoted. I understand the Angels only use 5 SP but if you were him wouldnt you asked to be traded because he could easily be a #2, or #3 starter on many teams

I know this question has been asked and answered several times, but there is a new ESPn book called "23 Ways to Get to First Base: The ESPN Uncyclopedia" (http://www.amazon.com/Ways-Get-First-Base-Uncyclopedia/dp/1933060107/ref=sr_1_2/102-5281495-3520913?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1180985506&sr=8-2), so there are officially 23 ways to get to first base.

Here is my list:
1. Single
2. Double
3. Triple
4. HR
(I believe each hit is seperate because you technically got to 1b on any of the 4 hits)
5. Error
6. Walk
7. Strikeout (Passed Ball)
8. Fielder's choice
9. Double play (ex. -bases loaded, no out; get runners at home and third)
10. pinch-runner (you got to 1B from the bench)
11. Interference
12. Intentional walk (could be different - technically)

Anyone else??? But there are supposed to be 23!

(BTW, I will buy the book, so please do not respond with that answer)

My son is on a baseball team and this is the first year they have used pitching machines. The balls are pitched at 45 MPH, so needless to say, nobody wanted to play the catcher. We have one little boy who stepped up and volunteered for this position. He has really taken a beating for the team. He has gotten hit with the ball so many times that I feel sory for him. I would like to get him something to show everyone's gratitude to him for taking on this responsibility. I thought about getting him an airrushed T-Shirt with a cute slogan or something. Any ideas?

Many would say Willie Mays catch was the greatest and some would argue that Ozzie Smith's bare handed grab at short was the best ever, but I have to go with Jim Edmonds and his over the head dive to catch the ball in centerfield when he was with the Angels was the best ever. Let me know.
