Pinella took one for the team and is the manager they need. Trammell plays an important support roll for Pinella and has a good relationship with the players. The Cubs are going through a difficult time right now but I still give them a good chance to come out of it and challenge for the division title.

I think it just shows how little impact managers have on games most of the time. No offense to Lou or Tram, but the Cubs' players will have a lot more to do with how their season plays out than will whoever is managing the team.

Well to early to prove a cause and effect. Though I do think Alan Trammell would be a good fit almost anywhere.

Purely a coincidence and nothing more. Veteran teams like the Cubs don't get pumped up by that type of stuff. Baseball seasons are very long and winning and losing streaks happen all the time. Piniella might fire up a young team for awhile, but veteran clubs don't care about the "rah-rah" stuff.

I like what he did. This team has not been well focused at all. I blame a lot of the poor defensive play, bad base running and poor situational hitting judgment on bad attitude. Lou has served notice that the entire team is expected to be on top of their game.
This could become a close divisional race. Giving away games can not continue.

World Series, here we come!
Undefeated the rest of the way!
Seriously though, I think this team has too much talent to be underachieving like the currently are. I think the Barrett/Zambrano fight will more likely get the team to realize how stupid they were acting/playing, and will turn them around more than the Piniella ejection.
