Stick a fork in the Yanks because they're done. Their pitching is in shambles and there's no way they can repair it in time to make up that many games to the Red Sox or win the wild card. The American League in general has way too many good teams with good lineups that are going to feast on Yankee pitchers all summer long.
I'm even a Yankee fan, but am a realist.

The AL East race is pretty much over. COULD they come back, yes. But an awful lot would have to go wrong for the Red Sox AND an awful lot would have to go right for the Yankees. The Red Sox also have more help they can get from their minors if/when the injuries set in.
The one thing in the Yankees' favor is that they are competing for the Wild Card against a team from the AL Central - and those teams are going to be beating each others' brains in. That is a tough schedule out there.
So I think it is possible for the Yankees to win the Wild Card. The AL East - not very likely.

Anyone who thinks it is impossible for the Yankees to come back and win the division over the Red Sox need to do a little research on 1978.

it is a long season and one series does not matter. after taking 2 of 3 from the red sox they lost to the white sox,.

Forget the stupid Red Sox series! You lost again yesterday. You gained one game in that series. You could not stop the worst offense in the league yesterday. Know when to say when.

they'll win immediately against the Blackhawks. they are going to be VERY aggressive at homestead, capitalizing on teamwork, hussle and out status play by using under rated Zet-guy (love that guy). yet likely Kane and the lads will win it in 7. Very classic journey up and thrilling too.
