Simple answer? No.

His starts in the minors have been less than inspiring, and considering the Yankees are 12.5 back in the AL East and 7.5 games back of the wild card, I don't think he can make that up himself (his WARP last year was only 5.3, and I can't see it getting any better this year). The fact is that the Yankees themselves aren't very good right now, and Clemens isn't going to have a huge impact. The Yankees have problems with consistency on offense (Posada and A-rod are the only guys who have really produced much this year). Abreu doesn't look like he even wants to play, pitchers have figured out Robinson Cano, Johnny Damon can't stay healthy, Giambi is gone and is probably close to done in the majors. That's just the offense. The real problem is in the pitching.

Yankees starters can't even get to the 6th, with the exception of Wang and Pettite. Mussina looks old, with an ERA above 6 at this point. Carl Pavano could possibly be the worst signing ever (5 years 100 mil for a whopping 5 major league starts). The Yankees have used the most pitchers in MLB this season. The bullpen is overworked, and with doubts about whether Clemens will be able to go deep into games, that situation doesn't look to get much better.

Add in the fact that the Yankees play uninspired defense (Jeter (Yankees fans, you can't dispute me) and Abreu especially), and there is no way they make the playoffs if they keep playing the way they have. They need to look towards being .500 before they can start thinking playoffs.

Orioles fan, btw.

Its purely the midsection of could there remains extremely some time left. yet come on Yankee followers, sufficient of the "spot the pink Sox a lead" communicate. all of us which incorporate Joe Torre could plenty quite be 8 up in could than 8 back. super lineup would be high-quality. The pitching team has extremely some questions: Clemens - how will he postpone at 40 5 with a history of undesirable hamstrings interior the yankee League? Wang - "One-Hit-ask your self" or the actual deal? i could be leery - he won 19 video games yet struck out purely seventy six final three hundred and sixty 5 days. His whip exchange into an everyday a million.31. Mussina - additionally purely coming back yet he hasn't regarded sharp yet. He needs to step up. Pettitte - has regarded sturdy so far and needs to maintain it up. He had a 4.20 era interior the anemic NL final three hundred and sixty 5 days. Adjusting for the AL brings it on the fringe of 5.00 Hughes - each physique I study is posting him real into the rotation. i be conscious of he's a blue-chipper yet can we actually place self assurance in a prospect to make contributions? something he provides could be gravy, yet not counted on. And to even point out Pavano at this factor is a shaggy dog tale. I won't get into the bullpen with Rivera, Proctor, and Farnsworth all being under dominant. are you able to count huge form the Yankees out? actually not! yet like Joe stated, i could quite be 8 up than 8 back...

Only if you're refering to a real rocket and not Roger Clemens, and if the playoffs is an actual place that you could ride a rocket to.

I am so happy to say there is no way the Skankees make the playoffs; unless they make some major trades(Ichrio) The Rocket is out of fuel, He alone can't save this sinking ship.

Sure is hard to think so. They have a lot more problems than one pitcher can fix...no matter who that pitcher may be.

Now with a possible groin injury(i know i know, scar tissue whatever) this looks like a 200 million dollar rebuilding year for the pinstripers...

Rocket alone will not be able to do it.

Only an intervention from God will they be able to reach the playoffs this year.
