I have this Trek 820 mountain bike circa 1994 that has succumbed to rust. The cassette is really bad, as it the crankset, and even the handlebar has become covered with small spots of rust. Every exposed bit of metal is pretty crappy looking, but the frame itself is in great shape. I hardly ever rode it outside after 1995, using it mostly on a trainer indoors. It was only over the last year or two when I made the mistake of storing it outside that rust became such an issue.

So the question is, should I just throw the whole bike away, or make a project out of it and have all the vital parts replaced? My other bike is a road bike and I really can't take it on unpaved trails, such as the C&O canal towpath, which is only minutes from my home. Would it be a total waste of money to have this bike resurrected into something usable? And do any of you have a ballpark idea of what it would cost me to replace brakes, crankset, cassette, etc., using entry level Shimano parts?

I've heard it as a Colt, a Browning, and some others. Is it just a particular design that is made by a lot of different companies or is there just one? I need to write about it and it's a little clunky just calling it M1911 all the time. I need something that sounds 'cool'

The above question was inspired by a couple of Puckdat's questions from a few days ago.

Throughout hockey's long history, there have been various displays of pure majesty as far as standout goaltending, goals, defense, and so forth. That being said, I pose the question to my fellow hockey fans out here: what series (in your opinion, of course) in either the NHL or international play has been the best in the aforementioned terms I have listed? It could be a quarterfinal, a semi, a Stanely Cup final, World Juniors, Olympics, Summit Series, anything!

For me, (and being a Penguins fan, this is hard to say) it was the 1994 Wales (I refuse to say "eastern") Conference final between New Jersey and the New York Rangers. Hockey was at its peak (and the number three sport at the time, ahead of the NBA in my opinion). Two words: Mark Messier, and seven games of great hockey (unfortunately, it was also the birth of that bastard child known as the neutral zone trap).

The grand jury has been extended for the third time. This is not Al Capone. With all the evidence that was published as fact in "Game of Shadows", why can't they get an indictment in a timely manner? With more pressing issues facing our country, why are we wasting time and resources on this? Is this really a national issue?
