To the non-christian people out there, especially athiests, how do you have a sense of right and wrong without Christ or some sort of belief system?
Where does morality come from if not from God?

Like, do you think they are evil, useless, stupid, cool, very strange, intriguing... what do you think about it?

I've been suicidal many times in life, and though I'm an atheist, many have attempted to convince me that when I'm not successful in suicide, "God" has saved me.

However, when someone commits suicide, God apparently has nothing to do with it; apparently it's all them, acting selfishly.

Why? What's the difference?

Can give me the exact phrasing of the quote that says something about men in power, the common man, and a wise man's views on religion. It states something about a wise man using it to rule others, a wise man not believing in it and something else I can't remember. I saw it years ago and can't recall how it goes. I think it's only 3 lines. Also, if you know where the quote originates I'd appreciate that too.

The story says that god created adam and eve and put them in some magical garden and gave them everything they could want until they sinned.
Okay, people say that god knows everything, there is nothing past or future that god doesn't know.If this story is true and god knew that adam would eat the apple and god knew that their decsendants would have to pay for the sins of adam and eve and god knew that anyone that didn't ask for forgiveness would burn in hell then why would he still allow that to happen. They say that god loves us so much.If god loves us so much then why would he already knowing the outcome let it happen. You can say that man chose to sin,but god chose to ignore the fact that we would sin and condemn us to hell unless we apologize and ask for forgiveness for what he already knew we would do.
Does this not seem kind of wrong to anyone.Should people want to worship a god that made them knowing he would send them to hell for doing what he knows they will do when created

I'm not really religious and am currently single. Should I feel guilty about it? Is it wrong?

I asked a question in regards to whether it's fair to force a child into new religious beliefs, if they enter into a new household.

I would BET MY LIFE that it's not fair. I know that firsthand.

I knew a guy that was in foster care. He went from home to home, worshipping everything from God to Buddha to Satan.

Do you think that's "good" for a child? Do you think that's right?

Well, if it's right, then suicide must be right, because that's how his life ended.

I really don't mean to be rude, I know this could be a hot topic.

dark matter really cannot be proven nor disproven. People believe it is real because there is no other way to explain how the universe stays in palce (not enough mass in the universe to create the gravity needed, yet the gravity is there). Now dark matter cannot be found, no one knows what it is made of and a lot of people aruge if it is even real. It is this mystery force that keeps the universe together..... by the way congrads punch!

You cannot test it, you cannot know its there- but yet you do. It needs to be there for us to be here. Sounds a lot like God to me.

Again, I'm nto trying to start a fight, I just want to make a comparison and here your opinions.

Why do Bibles translate the Greek word 'Hades' as "hell" in some places and as "grave" in other places?

Isn't this inconsistent and misleading?

Example:
'Hades' is often rendered as "grave" in Acts 2:27...

..but is rendered as "hell" in Revelation 20:14; Matthew 10:28

The same goes for the Hebrew equivalent 'Sheol" compare Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 and Psalm 55:15

Just curious. For some reason many religious people ask how non believers can live a good life without believeing in god.I just want to know for the people that think or ask things like that,if you didn't have your god or your book to tell you how to behave would most of you be psychotic killers.I hope i don't offend but it seems that with a lot of religious people the only thing stopping them from mass murder is the fear of hell.

Do you really need a god to threaten you with eternal torture to get you to behave like a civilized human, and why is it so hard to comprehend that there are people out here that can behave themselves without needing a threat of hell.

honest answers please.

The Bible says to "judge a tree by its fruit." However, I do not feel those on the Christian right, or Christians as a whole judged George W Bush. Good in a lot fo ways, but terrible in others. If you "judge a tree by its fruit", you could see that there was and still is something wrong with this guy. I can not even say that he is a Christian really. I look at the many things he has done in the name of security, and I realize that he was just pushing his agenda all along. I feel as if he soled out to "coperations." I truly feel that he is not a Christian at all, or he is a "back - sliding" Christian. I await your responce.

It is hard to fathom a loving God doing this. Perhaps there are a few truly evil people who might deserve to go there. But have you ever met a human being who is unworthy forgiveness?
