I really don't mean to be rude, I know this could be a hot topic.
dark matter really cannot be proven nor disproven. People believe it is real because there is no other way to explain how the universe stays in palce (not enough mass in the universe to create the gravity needed, yet the gravity is there). Now dark matter cannot be found, no one knows what it is made of and a lot of people aruge if it is even real. It is this mystery force that keeps the universe together..... by the way congrads punch!
You cannot test it, you cannot know its there- but yet you do. It needs to be there for us to be here. Sounds a lot like God to me.
Again, I'm nto trying to start a fight, I just want to make a comparison and here your opinions.

Just because science hasn't yet discovered all there is to know about "dark" matter doesn't mean it's not proven.
Experiments in recent years indicate there is substantially more matter in the universe than previously thought. It's estimated that about 90% of all the matter is a form of plasma. It also seems that this "dark" matter itself exerts gravitational forces. The curious nature of the universe is what suggests something is there, and prompted science to look for it.
To say that it "cannot" be proven or disproven is false. It is being tested for. And maybe it will turn out to be nothing. Einstein predicted there was such a substance in the universe. He called it his "greatest blunder." Now it turns out he was on to something.
We didn't always know what the matter on Earth was made of. The table of the elements grew over time as they were discovered. Just because more haven't been found doesn't mean they aren't there.
It was thought for decades the smallest particle was the atom, that's no longer the case. It was once thought the world was flat.
The scientific term for god is god.

I think you don't understand the question yourself, your making too many assumptions.
Dark matter must exist because there is no other explanation as to why the universe is the way it is.
When you throw in religion you assume there is no explanation and the truth is scientist do have theories on what dark matter consist of, but because the theory consist of particles that our equipment cannot yet detect we are stuck with calling it dark matter..
We know it must have mass, we know that it doesn't emit light, but that doesn't mean we don't know it's out there-- in fact we do, but our detectors need to influence it in order to detect it. The theory says the particle has no net charge so our detectors which use magnets to attract/repel the particles won't pick it up.
It would be like me asking you if the color green exist-- you maight say of courser it does -- I can see it. Well the same with dark matter-- we can see it's influence.

Wow you suck. You really and truly suck. But I can see what you are getting at. Dark matter is something that scientists came up with to explain the problems with the Big Bang Model. God is something that a bunch of people came up with to explain everything. Both have yet to be proven. =)

Scientists continue to search for empirical evidence of dark matter. So dark matter is not faith - it's a hypothesis that could be testable by evidence. God is not like dark matter - God is based on faith.

I think that there are many things in the universe that can be called "God". Higgs Boson is a better candidate, though.

well, hear's my opinion... i think that whatever people want to believe is cool. Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed, whatever...the point is to just get a long on the planet, but as for dark matter, i think you need to have something to make the scientists feel better when they don't have an answer, except to say....well, if it's light on one side, must be dark on the other.... no tech tonite, don't have the brain right now... PEACE

Dark Matter is Dust!!!!
(Only people who have read 'His Dark Materials' to the end will get the whole meaning to that one).

Actually dark matter can be proven. If you can't see it with a telescope or a particle detector, it is dark. If you build a better telescope or detector and see it, it is dark. Science illuminates, it doesn't mystify.

The Bible is very clear that God is spirit.
That which is spiritual is non-physical, so therefore, God is not dark matter.
Interesting thought tho.

Not at all. And they are actually able to detect dark matter and directly measure it's effects. They can detect it through gravitational lensing.
