I was raised a Catholic and was forced to go to church every week and to Sunday school. I made sure to pray every night, not out of any specific spiritual feelings, but because I was afraid that if I didn't I'd go to hell. I started having doubts when I was 15, and in the last 5 years I've decided I am not a Catholic. I'm just open-minded at this point, looking to learn, and trying to be a good person with no urgent need of a religion.

Has anyone else thought about how many people are a member of a religion because that's the religion their parents are? I wonder how many people that say they are religious say so because they are afraid to say otherwise. I wonder how many of those believers have serious doubts. I attended Christmas mass yesterday with my family (to avoid upsetting them), and noticed a lack of passion. If I was a true believer in something as profound as the story of Christianity I'd be a little more excited about it. No offense to believers.

Any similar feelings?

This is a serious question. Serious answers only. There is this girl at school. She's sweet and all and comes up to me and my friends like she's one of us. The problem is she's ugly and I mean beyond Proactive ugly. We haven't been rude to her but we don't encourage her. And it's not just her looks. She's one of those DDR losers. I've prayed that she will leave me alone too. I'm not being mean but she needs to accept how the world works. How can me and my friends let her know without being mean and hurt her feelings?

Someone please explain to me the contradictions in both books to do with Jesus' parentage. Joseph's father was not David but Jacob. Joseph and Mary were not married at the time of Caesar's census, they were PLEDGED to be married. Says so in Luke 2. So two people slept their way to Nazareth who were not married yet....

why couldn't God have chosen a married woman? Why pick on such a young girl to carry such a lifelong burden?

play with an Ouija board, or any of those things that you were told would lead you to certain death and damnation?

Turns out, none of that stuff works. Does religious fanaticism depend on cowardice and lack of intellectual curiosity to survive?

If you don't obey the ten commandments and you don't use the moral christian values, how do you decide what is right or what isn't right? I'm sorry if this question was already asked I couldn't find it and was really wondering. Oh and this isn't any attempt to convert anyone, I was just sincerely interested.

All you do is refute the existence of an all poweful being as a creator....everything you use to reject a God can be easily found on search engines......''why god does not exist?'

Seriously why do you think your smarter than religious people?
In what aspect? When I hear Atheists talk about their intelligence, I always think that is like me saying to some randomer ''I know more about football than you...I am smarter'

Oh and another thing...religious people are 'weak-minded'....so what about Religious people in communist Russia? Were they 'weak-minded'?

I honor and worship Him as I do the Father because He is God but I think they are one and yet still separate entities because in Genesis 6 God says, "Let us make man in our image."

According to what I read on a website, people who speak in tongues are the only true Christians, and the only people who will be saved.

Is this true?

Is there only one true faith?

Is there only one way to get to Heaven?

Can anyone have a monopoly on faith?

If we do this, then Isn't this, as they say, putting God in a box?

Nowadays, people are taught to respect competing religions. Yet, they're also taught that competing religions don't hold God's truth.

Heaven is the most wonderful place.
How do you think you can get there?
There are so many ways that people say about how to get there but i want to know the truth.

I belive that if we belive in Jesus Christ that he died for us on the cross to wash away all our sin for us to go to heaven
and that we have to ask for forgiveness when we do something bad.

Please give me your answer~

I've been with my girlfriend for almost a year now, and we get along great and we love eachother very much. But now, I'm starting to get to the point where I worry a little bit about our religious beliefs. I've been raised baptisit, and my girlfriend was raised catholic. It is safe to say that neither of us are going to give up our respective religions for the other. I worry about a few things. I'm not sure how catholics believe they will obtain admittance to heaven. And of course, you dont want someone you love to go to hell. My belief is that to get to heaven, you must accept Jesus Christ as your savior and ask him to forgive you. Do catholics believe that too? We havent really gotten into a religious discussion yet, we've both attended eachothers churches a few times, and neither of us have any problems with each others religion. I just want assurance that catholics go to heaven too! I hear a lot of poeple say that they dont.
