According to what I read on a website, people who speak in tongues are the only true Christians, and the only people who will be saved.

Is this true?

No it is not true. That would mean salvation by works--doing things can save you. We cannot save ourselves, for only God can save us by His generous Grace. Furthermore, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are many and not everyone has the same gifts. Not everyone can be a tongue, or a hand (1Cor. 12:12-31)...the gift of tongues is considered one of the least of the gifts according to 1 Corinthians 14:5.

Those who seek these miraculous gifts that God no longer bestows upon his people lend themselves to such deception by Satan, and often the effects are embarrassing. Aside from the convulsive seizures and emotional shouting, D. A. Hayes in his book The Gift of Tongues described an incident similar to those reported by others. “At Los Angeles not long ago,” he wrote, “a woman had the gift of tongues, and a reputable Oriental who heard her said that she was speaking his dialect of Chinese. When he was asked to interpret what she said, he refused to do it, saying that the language was the vilest of the vile.”
Such obscenity is characteristic of the work of the demons. No, the so-called ‘speaking in tongues’ of today is not an evidence of true worship. But, rather, Jesus said that his disciples would be known by the love among themselves.

No. Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the initial physical evidence of speaking in tongues is offered to all Christians, but not all Christians will receive. They are still saved. For example, I didn't receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit for two years or so after I became a Christian. It doesn't mean that I was a Christian who would have been denied Heaven.

Not true. Speaking in tongues is a gift from God, but it doesn't get you saved. The word says that if you confess with your mouth the lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you will be saved. Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. God Bless

No. In fact, MOST of those whom attend such churches (where such inordinate amount of emphasis is placed upon supposedly speaking in tongues) will NOT be in Heaven. Why? Because placing such attention upon an incorrect manifestation of the spirit causes the indwelling of a spirit which is NOT from Heaven.

God bless.

Yes, and even the people who whisper in tongues have a shot at heaven. But I feel sorry for the people who speak thru their nose because they're going straight to Hell. Their nose hairs will get scorched down there!

No. In fact it's likely that many who speak in tongues will not make it.

No that is ridiculous you are saved by Grace through faith not by works (or the ability to speak in lounges) so that no man can boast

not true- and guess what? You don't even need to believe in Jesus to have a place in the world to come. G-d has a place for ALL good and moral people who have done good works while on earth.
