Good question; probably where you feel you are being led.
There are good churches and no so good ones. It takes a seasoned church goer to know the difference usually so I will give you some tips on what to look for;
1) A church that is Bible-based, where the pastor quotes from it and takes time to explain it.
2)Where people in the church understand they are a church body and act accordingly. This means that there is love, support, fellowship and knowledge that there is a working together that is God-centered.
3)You are welcomed by some one in the church when you attend. Someone, at least one person, should warmly welcome you and provide you with information about the church.
4)Watch for "cult-like" activity; controlling, manipulating, non-Biblical doctrine.

I was not raised religious at all. The only churches I had been to were for weddings and funerals. But when I started high school, I decided that I wanted to find religion. I had a friend that was Jewish and so I spent some time in Temple with him and that was interesting to learn about. But I didn't agree with all of their points. I had some friends that went to non-denominational church, so I went with them a few times too. I really enjoyed that and learned a lot about religion. The church started to push me into becoming baptized and I didn't feel like I wanted to, so I ended up leaving the church and realized that God is everywhere. You can worship anywhere, anytime. Church is manmade and God has said nothing about church being important, so I worship now without a church. I feel much more free and "natural". My best advice is for you to check out the different churches in your area and decide which best suits you and what you're looking for.

Defiantly a Church that preaches the Gospels.Ask them what they believe. It is very important, because alot of churches out there are adding to Gods word and misleading many.Get yourself a Holy Bible and start reading it every day. That`s the best way to decide which church is best.Start with the book of John, then go to Romans.I attend a Baptist church because that`s just where God has lead me.As long as the church teachings line up with The Holy Bible and do not contradict Gods word in any way then you`ve got a good church!!

You must seek out the church which Christ left here upon the earth. You will recognize it in three ways..
1) The church will believe in modern revelation or in other words that God still reveals his words to mankind. This is essential because as Christ said to Peter his Gospel was built upon the rock of revelation.
2) The church will have apostles and prophets. This must be the case because God has always revealed his will through his apostles and prophets. Without these men there can be no revelation and therefore no church. A church cannot claim revelation without them and cannot deny the need for them without negating revelation and thereby the truthfullness of their church.
3) The church must have authority from God. This authority must be recieved as Joshua, Moses and all others up through the apostles of Jesus Christ recieved it by the laying on of hands by one having authority to do so. This authority is called the priesthood.
4) Once you find this church you should do as James 1:5 councils and ask of god with faith seeking wisdom as to whether or not you should join that church. He will tell you through the holy ghost in your mind and in your heart whether or not the path you have chosen is a good one.
I along with many others applied this criteria and have come to a conclusion about which church is God's true church. I cannot convince you that I'm right but I can invite you to follow these steps and discover for yourself the truth. If you would like more information please visit www.mormon.org.

You need to find a healthy well balanced church grounded in the prayer, praise, and proclimation of the word.
I prefer Southern Baptist churches, but that's my flavor. You might also like Prespeterian, Church of God, or one of the others.
Every denomitaion has bad churches, most have good ones. There are saved people in every church.
What I stay away from is Churches where they make things up like ideas and rules that come from the opinion of the pastor and not the Bible. It's OK to have opinions but when you think that an opinion can't be wrong, we have a problem. The preacher's ideas are not cannonised like the Bible is! Also, what they teach about salvation is very important to me.
It is important to me that they believe in the trinity, and salvation through the finshed work of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is very important that they believe that the bible is the infallible word of God. And that THE church is not someone's church, it is THE body of belivers of people who have accepted Jesus as their savior. I won't worship where they teach that only people in their church go to heaven.

Hi Lucky,
Do you have any friends who go to church?
Ask to go with them but make it clear it is just a one-time "fun" visit.
Your friend can answer questions or tell you when to sit or stand and which book to open and when to get your dollar bill out.
Besides, its less scary if you have a buddy with you.
Too bad you didn't get the urge on Monday night or Tuesday-- For Church-viewing,Christmas is the best!
And less demanding and confusing than Easter (Even though I would tell a regular Church attender that Easter is more important.)

Any church is a good place to start, but I must say the best church is your own favorite reading chair. Pick up the book for yourself and discover Christ for you. I would suggest the four Gospels to start with. For me it was like reading the story of my best friend.

Go. What's the harm? Find a friend/co-worker and ask that they take you with them. Remember not all churches are the same. If you have a bad experience at one, don't write off all the others. Find one you're comfortable with.
Take care.

Maybe a nearby community church. Also the Religious Tolerance website has very objective information on all religions. It might help you decide which religion you are best suited for.
