If Joseph Smith was given a new testament to share with the world because the bible was tainted with human error, why didn't he simply fix the errors?

Wouldn't life be more fun if DNA had three strands instead of two... sex would always be a threesome, and there might be up to eight different normal genders.

I know my own heart and it is good. I am a good person - I am more thoughtful and compassionate than I ever was when I was a Christian who claimed to love Jesus and be filled with the holy Spirit.

In fact, I love people more, now that I am an atheist than I ever could as a mere Christian. With Christianity, you cannot love without a third party (Jesus) With Atheism, when you love, it comes from the atheist's heart alone, with no filtering or outsourcing..

The reason I rejected Christianity was because I discovered (in my PhD program at Duke University that Jesus did not exist as a historical figure and that the manuscript tradition for the bible was completely corrupt and political.

I have objectively studied both sides of the debates and there can be no doubt, Christianity is NOT the truth, and was made up over a lengthy period.

You too, can learn to live honestly. Dare to question.

Hello, all:

This is a sister question to one that I just asked about Wiccans/Pagans and how they are treated.

I was thinking today about how there is a general perception that Christians are put upon by members of other religions and philosophies, in particular certain types of atheist.

As a result, I was wondering what the worst experience is that you have suffered, or have heard tell of, as a result of being Christian. Naming no names, of course, if it has to do with another Y!A user.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Who here has read "Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth"? I've posted the link a lot of times and I was wondering who has read it, and your thoughts:

that Cain's skin was lightened? Whether you believe in science (we originated from the rift valley in Kenya), or a literal interpretation of the bible (we came from the Garden of Eden, which was by everyone's best guess is b/w the Tigris and Euphrates in Iraq), or a combination of both, we can safely say that Cain and Abel were NOT European. They were most likely very dark-complected.

So if you believe that God's "mark" on Cain was to change his skin tone, wouldn't it be more likely that he was lightened? Wouldn't that make him stand out much more?

(Let me stick a disclaimer on here that I don't believe the "mark" was to change his skin color, and I think it was a detail added by people trying to justify their own prejudices. It seems to be a definite example of Euro-centrism to assume in the first place that Adam & Eve or their kids would be white or light skinned. Just wanted to hear everyone's thoughts!).

We're not trying to convert you. If you believe in God, awesome, but is it so hard to let us believe in the "Big Bang theory"? What happened to freedom of speech and opinion?

Some people invented a god, then they drench my society in a bucket full of that same god, and then wonder why I have a few minor problems with that. Odd.

Anyway, how thankful must I be to be allowed to ask stuff in this section?
