Cute kitten in the photo. One of the major flaws that I find in the human species is the desire to see other people knocked off their pedestal. It almost seems equivalent to grade school tattling. People often spread vicious gossip to tear others down so the one spreading the gossip appears bigger and better. Maybe people that gossip have a deep seated inferiority complex.

Sharing pertinent information is an effective way of keeping people informed and out of trouble. If you know that Suzie acts a certain way in certain situations, you can prepare for it.

I agree that some people do it maliciously, which is not adding to the positivity in the world. However, humans have developed "gossiping" over millennia to spread information, and it is quite successful.

I think it's a source of entertainment for some. Whether or not they know it's wrong is fairly irrelevant. We have all listened to or been part of some form of gossip in our lives... I think it's just part of human nature. For some, it's difficult to restrain from taking part in it... whether you pass along the information or not. Being party to it (listening to it) is just as bad.

I have been guilty of doing this on more than one occasion. I don't pass the information along - I outgrew that after high school. I do still listen to it. Guess that makes me no better than anyone else!!

i love good gossip, but if you think that it is wrong, then the only thing i can say is follow the golden rule, don't gossip, and you will most likely not get gossiped about. it really won't stop. but that should help

It's a filler for gaps in conversation to me, but I hate when I do it. I'm not the gossiper judging, though, just talking. Not that it makes it any better.

I do not enjoy it. I stay away from people who engage in it. If someone starts to tell me gossip, I stop them.

its a natural tendency of human beings to pretend that " I am better than him/her". We enjoy every fault of others and like to spread it. thats it. U can relieve from gossiping by practice

I don't gossip.....I HATE IT!! they do it because they are bored and have nothing to do!!!! (family and friends HUGE GOSSIPERS!!!) It is wrong and it is human nature everyone makes mistakes in there life but when you just keep on and on and on knowing ur just in one big ocean of sin its stupid!! I have gossiped before!! I think eveyone has!! but when you keep doing it is when its like STUPID/ GAY/ AND RETARDED!! AND I HOPE I OFFEND GOSSIPERS!!!

There's nothing essentially 'wrong' with it, although there definitely isn't anything useful about it either. People do it mostly so they have a ready supply of irrelevant words to fall out of their mouths and it works because a lot of people seem to believe that someone else's 'secrets' are worth knowing.
