Symbolic dates

476 CE
622 CE
1066 CE
1492 CE
1933 CE
2001 CE

You can pick up to three pivotal dates in history that you think led to world being an overall crappier place. Also, you may suggest your own dates.
Thank you.

I often see people say that they are "not ashamed to talk about Jesus". This implies to me that some people might be ashamed. Also, I remember as a teenager in youth group, we were encouraged to not be embarrassed to talk about God, because we needed to try to witness to people and get them saved.

Why do you think people feel embarrassed to tell others about God?

I began to believe in Universal Salvation(everyone goes to heaven) sometime ago but it is widely considered as heresy by a lot of Christians. Now I believe that when a person accepts Jesus, they are not 'saved'in the sense of being rescued but 'redeemed'(bought, freed from bondage) i.e.set free in spirit to serve and experience God bcos ultimately there is no Hell to be saved from.Universal salvation does raise a lot of questions though e.g.why live a righteous life when the murderer, thief, adulterer e.t.c will still go to heaven with you?Why preach the gospel? A lot of Christians believe God has given us all the answers in the Bible but even the Bible says 'God works in MYSTERIOUS ways' so I don't think He has revealed all to us yet.I would especially love your answer if you do believe in Universal Salvation.

Over the years, people have insulted Jesus and co in all sorts of ways. Sometimes quite disgracefully and the odd complaint has been made about those people. Jesus is still around cos He can take it. What is Islam afraid of?

It's okay to talk about religion at work if you are a Christian, but if you are an atheist, you should refrain from discussing religion at work? When I asked about experiences with telling coworkers you are an atheist, many replies (I don't know if they were from Christians or atheists) suggested that I should not discuss such a topic at work. But moments later, when I asked Christians if their coworkers know they are Christians, the overwhelming majority said yes.

What gives?

So I understand why certain religions would have missions..but what are athiest trying to recruit for? Do you feel you are acting in the best interest of the individual? The community? The world? I have done this too, long ago, don't know why. Maybe there is an athiest out there who is a much better one than I ever was and could help me understand why I would have ever tried to talk someone out of their faith in God. Maybe I was too much of an agnostic and so did not have true faith in..nothing? I know this is a version of a drinking question, but stay with me. What is the vested interest, from an athiest perspective, of me or anyone else not believing?

I use to think no but then i saw these verses, and now I don't know. Don't just say it's the outward sign of belief unless you can explain these verses.

Acts 2:38

38Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5)

"And he said unto them (His Apostles), Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16)

Colossians 2:12
12having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
Galatians 3:27
27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

and there are many more then that.

I think Mr. Romney is a very good man, and his morals will be a refreshing change in Washington. As a Christian, do you think being a Mormon goes against your Christian values at all, or would his exemplary life be a good role model for young americans?

We all really appreciate the more popular names like Moses and Abraham, David, Samuel, John the Baptist, Paul, Peter etc. But what of the ones that do not have as well known names or even no names at all. Such ones as the old lady Anna or Simeon who both knew that the Lord Jesus, even as a babe was the Savior of the World.
Please share today...and refresh our memories of all those who made their small mark.

Ty all for taking the time to respond

Where I live, everyone believes in God. Even the ones that don't go to church. On Friday, I told one of my supervisors that I'm an atheist. She looked at me with pure shock in her eyes, paused for a few moments, and then started stammering, "Oh, well, that's okay, I knew somebody like that once." As if I have a disability or something, lol.

I'm still new to atheism and have only started to tell people in my real life recently that I am one.

What have your experiences been like?

Forgive "them", for they know not, is before the cross.
After the cross it seems to be destroy "them" all,
with Noahic & Sodomic type destruction... iff
one like the Son of man should come again,
for vengeance (is not merciful) on them all.

So top up faith with "charity never faileth",
cause "charity thinketh no evil" to forgive;
and charity is above "forgiving one another";
to be put on "above" endless err and forgive.

What are your thoughts on endless error & forgive?
Adults priding themselves on being "children" of God?
On "children" being tossed to and fro by winds(spirits)?
On "know not"s: children and servants "differ nothing"?

Why did God say: let us make "MAN" (not child)?
Why did JC say: thou art no more a servant (slave)?
Why did Paul put away child things when man kind?
Why did Paul say: "be no more children": Eph 4:14?
Why is the Lord longsuffering to us-ward, not them-ward?
Why does destruction come on them, not us: 1Thess 5:3,9?

Since man cannot pro-create he will die out upon his death?.
The first of all species on Earth must, of necessity, been self procreating - that means only one inarguable specy - female.
That means, does it not,(if the Bible is to be believed of even one single word) that God, who made the species after "HERSELF" must, also, have been a self procreating female of the species(and ALL species).
God(SHE) had already made the species to populate Earth in her name and had given dominion over all of the earth and the creatures upon it. On the second day(25million years) after she had set her spawn upon the face of the earth she saw that certain of her spawn were "laying down" with her kind and an intercourse of sorts was taking place. God questioned her spawn asking - is it your desire to lay down with your own kind which I have placed upon the Earth to recreate and populate the Earth ?. The answer came - We would have a partner to lay with us and help us to enjoy this work which you hav

I just finished re-reading "Frankenstein" and it got me thinking.

We have all known parents who are narcissistic monsters, who try to force their children to be something they are not. This usually ends badly for everybody concerned. When genetically engineered “designer babies” are available, will their designers fare any better than the hapless Victor Frankenstein?
