I began to believe in Universal Salvation(everyone goes to heaven) sometime ago but it is widely considered as heresy by a lot of Christians. Now I believe that when a person accepts Jesus, they are not 'saved'in the sense of being rescued but 'redeemed'(bought, freed from bondage) i.e.set free in spirit to serve and experience God bcos ultimately there is no Hell to be saved from.Universal salvation does raise a lot of questions though e.g.why live a righteous life when the murderer, thief, adulterer e.t.c will still go to heaven with you?Why preach the gospel? A lot of Christians believe God has given us all the answers in the Bible but even the Bible says 'God works in MYSTERIOUS ways' so I don't think He has revealed all to us yet.I would especially love your answer if you do believe in Universal Salvation.

There is no Universal Salvation:

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it."
(Matt. 7:13)

"Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."
(Heb. 9:27-28)

"He answered, "The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels. "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
(Matt. 13:37-42)

"This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50and throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
(Matt. 13:49-50)

They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power."
(2 Thess. 1:9)

Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur."
(Rev. 19:19-20)

"I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
(Mat. 3:11-12)

"Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like..."Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' "For many are invited, but few are chosen."

'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' ..."Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. ..."Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
(Matt. 25)

"For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)- if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings; yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord. But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish."
(2 Peter 2:4-12)

"he, too, will drink of the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. He will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name."
(Rev. 14:10-11)

"And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell."
(Matt. 18:9)

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
(Matt> 7:21)

"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
(Luke 16:22-24)

I see that the interest in this is quite a bit. I think Universial Salvation were true, would God waste so much of the Bible on repentand and the reward one get from repentance. Also much of the Bible shows that the Hell is enlarging herself daily. Why would that be for. Is Hell getting ready for some demonic demon part, or is it getting prepared for those souls that have made their eternat abode there. Besides, if universal salvation, the Jesus that Charles Manson that he accepted in a tent revial would be able to cover over the heinous acts that he committed--he could kill right up unitl he takes his last breat and Jesus would say come in my servant.

I admit it sounds good, becuase that means I can go and get genuinely saved--and live my life as I want to live it without spiritual consequences. The Holy Ghost came to be your guide not Bishop C.P.

Here is a good site for you to do some research. www.tentmaker.org
Your on the right track! Eternal torment teaching is satanic.
Universalists have a much more intelligent perspective on God, the Bible, eternal judgment, you name it. Eternal torment doctrine is covered with red flags. Things that make no sense or worse, they make God out to be someone who condones the torture of people, without mercy. Eternal torment teachers are NOT representing Jesus when they teach that. Its really a shame.
The eternal torment people quoting scripture on here don't know what they are talking about. Universalists will explain those verses while considering many different translations to include the original Greek and Hebrew texts and prove to you that they do NOT teach that Jesus condones keeping people alive to burn people alive in some torture chamber. Its a lie! Do not fall for that false satanic doctrine!!

Hats off to you … as there is dearth of intelligent questions at Y’Answers

Well, actually, I don't believe in such a theology, as I must say it, as such beliefs are quite equally popular among all the religions of God, vis-à-vis, Jewry, Christianity & Islam.

I consider this approach to Hereafter being the root cause of all the misdeeds. Such a thought actually psychologically provides you an escape root, suppresses your guilt and make you live in the world of make believe.

Contrary to this approach God has clearly stated in his Good Books that what you sow will you reap.

You thoughts are logical as long as they are restricted to you question and you don’t have any counter questions.

There are plenty of Muslims who also think (believe) that Prophet Muhammad would be their Salvation. But it is very much inscribed in Koran that Salvation only belongs to God and it only depends on your deeds.

You see, even by having belief in One God does not take you to Paradise, To be entitled to Paradise you have to have your good deeds at your side, as qualifier.

Just take an example of hiring someone with our right qualification for the job, will you recommend it?
If it's not a popular approach among human beings then how could we expect from God to let unqualified enter the Paradise and make corruption there in as well.

Hopefully you won’t mind my mentioning of Muslim approach in reply.

I'd love to believe in Universal Salvation but it's just not biblical- why would Jesus come to earth, die for the sins of the world and rise again, if everyone is going to go to heaven anyway?
God bless you.

I suggest that you begin to look up the words of the scripture in Strong's Concordance. You will be amazed to find out the true meaning behind many words.

For example, the word MYSTERIOUS--is quite interesting.

It DOES NOT mean, "mystery" in the sense that we think of it as an unknowable thing. It simply means--a hidden knowledge that is only revealed to those who able to understand it.

God and His ways are NOT unknowable. IF you seek, ye shall find.

Many are NOT seeking God...how can they find Him?

How can God redeem that which DOES NOT want His redemption?

the whole concept of "salvation" begs the question: "saved" from what?
why would a benevolent, loving, allegedly omnipotent god create eternal torment for those who do not swear allegiance? why would such a god create people who can develop logic-based ethics that see through such a fallacy?

The options: Either that god is not omnipotent and did not create the situation, but is only using it to promote recruitment, OR that god is not benevolent and loving, OR your "universal salvation" scenario applies, OR it is not the policy of any such god but rather by those who gain earthly power and wealth by getting people to believe in such a control scheme.

Since I don't believe in heaven or hell anyway I can't answer too much except to say that good morals and good behaviour are nothing to do with any religion. They are something humans and other species have evolved as they are good for the survival of the species

We are one. Each of us is a part of God.

Who is it that this judgmental God would be punishing, it's self?

The real God is unconditionally loving.

If you read the parable of the prodigal son this is beyond obvious. Actually read the words, and don't apply the spin that religion has put on them and you will see.

Love and blessings Don
