If you stand very still, in the turmoil of life,
and quiet yourself, does an answer come out of nowhere?

Do you just wait for that still small voice, from within you, to be led down the quiet pathways of wisdom?

Is that your sub-conscious mind, or your conscience?!?

Could God speak to you that way, in a still, small voice; and bring you peace that surpasses understanding, and wise spiritual enlightenment???

Didn't God speak to a prophet in the bible that way?

The prophet coulded not find Him in the whirwind. But he found God's leading within the stillness! Right?

Does that ever happen to you???

Do you honestly believe they were all making it up and nobody challenged them on it? The Jews who believed in Jesus were ostracized from their communities and hunted down. Christians were heavily persecuted by the Roman emprire for the first 300 years after Christ's death...

But you think people just said "oh ok, sign me up! I guess I'll die for your lies as well! Yay!"

When someone at work or university says stuff about Muslims and how they are all bad, I am the first one to defend them. How can you judge a whole race by a few bad people.
But
Coming here on Y!A my experience with Muslims (and Islam) is that they are full of so much hatred towards people that are not followers of Islam. I am yet to read any nice comments.
I read many derogatory comments about people in the western world with the assuption that we are all Christian.
I really want to read some nice comments by people of Islam.

Unfortunatly I haven't had the oppurtunity to interact with anyone with beliefs in Islam the only interaction I get is through Y!A and my experience isn't very nice. I would like that to change.
Any comments?

i started wearing mascara , and my mom says I'm getting farther away from God. I don't get what this has to do God. She also doesn't like it that i wear a necklace or nail polish. I don't really understand this. Is anyone else's mom like this? what do you do about it?

In the Book "The DaVinci Code" by Dan Brown, he states that Leonardo DaVinci Was a Pagan, not a Christian and that he painted Christian influenced art for the money (Starving artist and all...) and that he incorperated pagan symbology into most of his Christian paintings.

I was wondering if there is a shred of truth in Dan Brown's Claims?

Alright, I'm in a spiritual tug-of-war and I'm ripping myself apart. Half of me wants to stay Christian/Baptist because it's been drilled into my head for years and I don't want to let my family down. But then the other half of me has been wanting to convert to Wiccan for a very long time because I feel more connected to the religion and it really speaks to me. but if I do convert then my parents could find out and I'd be screwed, not to mention that my grandmother would be devistated if she found out (she's a really religious person). I don't know what to do and I really need some help.

I don't know. For about a year I have been struggling with doubts that God is real or if he's not and all and it's been really hard. But I don't wanna go to hell. It's so weird, just I don't wanna go to hell but at the same time am struggling? I don't know, just it's almost like in my heart I know He's there and all but at the same time I'm doubting it. I really want to stop and just know God is there and get over this because I really wanna go to Heaven, but at the same time it's like I'm doubting the whole thing with all of these questions, help! If you were going out on a date, what God (or Goddess) would you most like to go out with? Who would be the most fun? Who would pick up the tab and let you order the lobster? Who would make you just a little bit better as a person before the night was out?

Sure...why not. Major religions have been doing it for years. My one friend swears there should be a god for hot-dogs that have been just a bit too long on the seven-11 cooker to make them extra delicious.

If you were going to make your own god, what would they be like? What would they look like? What would they have influence over?

Muslim countries tend to require women from other countries to cover up when visiting in the Muslim country.
I’ve heard that even American service women in Muslim countries are required to cover up when they are off base/off duty.

So Americans follow those countries wishes, so why do Muslims go ballistic in America when they are asked to uncover for certain reasons? Like when a woman was stopped by a police officer in Florida and asked to uncover her face to be identified and everyone flipped out at the audacity he had to ask her to do such a thing.

What gives?
