Some people might be afraid what comes after death so they believe we go to heaven to be with god, so it sounds better than rotting in the ground. People also believe we had to come from somewhere and that god created us out of his power because we really have no other idea why we are. I see god has a creation of man and not a divine being. We use god has an explanation and a excuse to answer questions that we have no answer for. We have a god in all of us and we should listen to what he has to say.

For many people, the wonders and problems of the universe are too big too handle on their own. It's comforting for some people to believe in a higher power, to know their is reason in all things, even in the evil. Without God many people would feel overburdened and stressed, God takes the weight off the overpowering pressure of responibility. Man turns to God at their darkest hour, where they find hope and comfort.

Everybody has their own reasons for their beliefs, even those that don't have any, generally have reasons.

For some it brings them peace knowing they are not alone in this crazy world. For others it helps them have an understanding. And their are some that just don't know any different, and believe what they were raised to believe. Personally though, about the last one, I find that belief without understanding is dangrerous. I am a christian, and believe in God, but I don't want people doing it just because they don't know any better. Make educated descions, and understand what you believe, otherwise its just like believing in nothing.

I think that it's a psychological aberration stemming from childhood.
When you're a four year old, you look up to your dad. He can do such amazing things and he's powerful. He provides what you need and he's the absolute authority. When he picks you up and holds you, you feel so safe and secure. When he's angry with you for doing something wrong, you submit to him for forgiveness, because you need his love and guidance.
Then you grow up and find your dad is just another man, but still long for that security he once gave you.
Enter God.
He's our father and we are his children. We are thankful for what He provides for us and we submit for forgiveness and ask for his love and guidance. We look up to him in Heaven.
If I'm not mistaken, Freud had a theory about this subject and called God a " Superfather ".

There may be some who believe in God because they were raised to believe and have never really considered alternatives. There are others who may have some doubts but believe because most of their relatives or friends believe. But a large portion of the Christian population believe because God has worked in them to reveal something about himself and as they have pursued him he has revealed more and more.

In my opinion, people believe in
God for various reasons. The one
thing that ties it all together
is "personal experiences". Without
personal experiences it would be
near impossible to believe their is
a God. For example, a person may
go into a terrible car accident and
the car will be completely ripped
asunder usually to an unbelievable
possibility of death but the driver
comes out without a stratch. This person
then realizes that there is something
out there way bigger than him. Bigger
than science and random choice.

There are many other examples of
personal experiences that match this
one whether it is a loss of a loved
one, a person with a terminal disease.
I think that personal experiences also
tie in with the idea of "hope" or "help".
Wanting to find answers to questions
that can't be answered in the natural.
Overall, people believe in God because
of the experiences people go through.
Scientist can analyze, do all sorts of
tests and experiments, and debate all
they want but they cannot measure the
evidence of personal experience.

Have you ever looked at nature? God is real. Look at all the complex systems of work. Look no further than our own human anatomy/universe. Why do ants or bees as insignificant as they are have such detailed work patterns or their contributions to nature itself? If you think all of this was created by chance then tell me who rolled the dice... ask yourself why isn't their talking monkeys or any transitions from amoeba into humans in this day and age.
Brainwashed/Indoctrinated I do not think so!
Do you guys remember TMNT? What do you think that was about??

For me it was a slow walk toward God. I did not grow up in a faith.

I would suggest that you explore and see how it speaks to you.

It always amazes me the people who disavow God out of hand, yet they never made an attempt to explore 'religion' and then make up their mind.

Religious suprstitions are passed down from parents to children . The fear of death is very strong in some people , so it's easy to sell them everlasting life , even though it's impossible .

Because to me it just makes sense. For me it is much easier to believe that someone created everything and is always watching out for me. Not to say that nothing bad will ever happen because it will that's what makes us grow. It gives me comfort and peace.
