Yes, Gordon B. Hinckley
(and I've never heard him brag about it, or anything else.)

Dave C nailed it right on the head. The truth is: there are thousands, even millions of prophets on the Earth. They are telling people to trust God. They are telling people that Jesus Christ is the only way into heaven. They are telling people that they need to believe in Jesus to make peace with God. They are telling people that terrible times are coming, and that the world needs Jesus in order to escape it. They are telling people that there is certain destruction coming for everyone who denies Jesus as Lord. They are telling people that Jesus will return and rule on the Earth for the Day of Vengeance.

What they are getting in return are some who believe, and they are getting attacked by those who are not believers. In some places they are persecuted and killed for what they are saying.

There is even a large church organization ( The Roman Catholic Church's people ) who are saying not to listen to the prophets about the Last Days, that you can all relax and forget what they are teaching. They are saying that the prophets are wrong, and all the things in Revelation have already happened when it clearly has not happened already.

These are the false prophets. Who as in the times of Jeremiah and Isaiah have pseudo messages that all will be well, and that everyone is okay, and that they are the true one's to listen to.

So we don't have a time that is too different from the olden times. It's the same thing all over again.

But there are prophets today right in front of everyone.

I think the Dalai Lama currently is the closest to a spiritual leader we have had in a while. He is currently seeking peace for this Earth we all live in and strive for a better nation for his people. He's an on going inspiration to the human race. I know that technically doesn't qualify him for a prophet. but he has a strong conviction for compassion and acceptance.

Didn't that LDS fundamentalist say he was "The Prophet"? Or maybe I'm thinking of "Big Love"!

Actually, all Christians are supposed to prophesy for Jesus. There is more than just one meaning -- to foretell the future -- to the word "prophet." One of those meanings is to be a messenger of God. When we testify for Jesus, we are His messengers -- thus, His prophets.

Yup. Just yesterday I told my kids that it was going to rain, and it did. And this morning, I said to a co-worker that work was going to be crazy today, and it was.
