I have been noticing all of the various arguments being put forth by believers (from all faiths) and non-believers (sorry, but I am using this loosely to refer to atheists here), and it seems that there is a great amount of hostility between the 2 viewpoints. The believers think that the atheists are going to go to hell (or something like that) and the atheists assume that believers are unintelligent and uninformed about science in general. I honestly think that in this section, it is mostly for entertainment, as someone else has pointed out. But for the record, I believe in some form of higher power, yet I also fully embrace the theory of evolution, as well as the big bang. I mean, if there is a God (which I believe there is), and it exists outside of time and space, it could never be proved or disproved. So the search for God is outside the realm of science anyway. Why does one have to go to hell if they don't believe in God? And why does one have to be an idiot to believe in God?

Or would you want to live first?

I'd want to live first because I'm afriad Heaven might not offer everything that I can do and experience right now while I'm alive here on Earth. Heaven can wait, life is temporary.

Are the ones who constantly offend GOD?

What offends you the most:
When people say something about you?
your family and friends
Someone's race or culture
Someone's Sexual Preference
Someone's Appearance
Religion
GOD and Jesus...

I don't think anyone should offend or insult another person but what I take offense to mostly is when people mock GOD and Jesus Christ
You?

I recently went out with a few girl friends and they brought a guy they knew. He said that he was a Muslim but he said that;
1. If he ever went on a date with a girl, he would have to marry them.
2. If he ever had sex, he would be whipped 80 times.

Is there a different form of Muslim, or any other religion that follows after these rules?

In my previous question, there was an answer that said demons can imitate the Holy Spirit and lead to divergent interpretations when people read the Bible. If this is true, then doesn't that make all interpretations of the Bible suspect?

So how do you know your interpretation is correct?

I know a family that refuses to allow their children to have anything to do with anything Harry Potter because "it promotes evil and witchcraft."

Despite that, their favorite old television show to sit down as a family to watch is Bewitched.

Nobody seems to understand how funny and hypocritical that is but me, and I'm wondering if I'm alone here.

A recent post asked for the scriptual basis for Catholic teachings. As usual, the scriptual simpletons displayed their utter lack of understanding about authentic Christianity, and pulled out the tired old list of supposedly unscriptual teachings (pope, purgatory, Mary, yadda yadda yadda).

My question is: If everything pertaining to Christian teaching is to be found in the Bible, then it should say somewhere in the Bible that "everything pertaining to Christian teaching is to be found in the Bible". Where does it say that? I have found the Church in the Bible, and I have found that the Church is the "pillar and foundation of thruth" (1 Timothy 3:15). I have found deacons and bishops in the Book of Acts, but I have nowhere found that everything pertaining to Christian teaching is to be found in the Bible.

The fact is that Christ established a teaching church, not a book. The New Testament addresses problems in the early Church, but does not systematically state every belief.

There are many Biblical references where God speaks to us, and we - Him... but I am looking for verses that reference speaking the truth in love - or to be gentle and gracious when you speak, etc.

Example:
Colossians 4:5-6 Behave yourself wisely [living prudently and with discretion] in your relationships with those of the outside world (the non Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity.
Let your speech at all times be gracious, seasoned [as it were] with salt, [so that you may never be at a loss] to know how you ought to answer anyone [who puts a question to you.]

Can you help me find other similar references?
Thank you in advance.

Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. What do you think of the Bible verses below?

Thanks a lot!

Jesus admitted that his Father is his Source of Life.
John 5:26 states “For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself”. The Father gave LIFE to Jesus and Jesus admitted it.

Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten(Gennao) thee. Acts 13:33

The word begotten in Greek is gennao. It means “to be born” –Strong’s dictionary defines this as procreate (properly of the father, but by extension of the mother); figuratively to regenerate: - bear, beget, be BORN, BRING FORTH, conceive, be delivered of, gender, MAKE, spring.

At Acts 13:33, it states the Father “has MADE/BRING FORTH” the Son. This verse talks about the relationship of God to his Son whom he MADE/BROUGHT FORTH (Gennoa).
Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten(Gennao) thee. Acts 13:33

Compromise, people, compromise. Middle ground, happy medium etc, etc. Surely someone on this godforsaken planet can think of a way to give Christians the ability to accept evolutionary theory and their beliefs without making them feel as though they are betraying their god and also without breaking any of the rules that make science what it is? So many of the proponents of evolutionary theory today come across as arrogant, cold, pragmatic bastards intent on destroying Christian values. They’re never going to accept if it’s put like this. And can’t you see the benefit if evolutionary theory is packaged in a nicer way specifically for Christians? After a few generations, then we can bring out the heavy artillery…

If I want to worship Jesus and pray to him and have faith that there is a GOD in Heaven that loves me, and that is faithful, graceful, and merciful. And I want to love my neighbor as myself, and I don't want to lie, cheat, or murder. I don't want to drink excessively or do drugs, and I want to live a life full of compassion, gentleness, love, and empathy. Why does that bother you? Why does it matter how I choose to live my life now? I believe that by declaring CHRIST IS MY SAVIOR and doing my best to live a holy life I will get into Heaven. WHY DOES THAT BOTHER YOU?

What do you have to lose by me living my life in a loving way? If I want to be Christ-like that is only going to make your life better becuase there is one less person in the world You have to argue and fight with and one less person to worry about shooting you on the street or kidnapping your child.

Saint Paul is about the only person in the Bible accusing Eve NOT ADAM for the “Original Sin”™. He hates women! Although he says that women will be saved only if they are good at making babies! Nuns need not to apply!

I Timothy 2:14-5 (NIV) And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. BUT WOMEN WILL BE SAVED THROUGH CHILDBEARING – if (big IF) they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

What excuse the virgin girls, nuns and childless Christian women use today to go to Heaven?

You hardly get any informed responses?

2007-11-19 07:07:33 · 23 answers · asked by Anonymous

The common argument is "we do not worship we venerate".

Venerate is not an English word, it is a transliteration from Latin.

Therefore, to change the definition when the word in transliterated in to English, it is a deception.

Why lie about it. Veneration means to worship. Venerating saints and Mary is idol worship.

If you are so confident in this practice, respect the authority of the Church more than Sola Scripture anyways, and then why not proudly say, "Yes, we worship Mary & the Saints"?

Why are you embarrassed about it to the point that you have to be deceptive?
