Because apparently that's the message behind the "creationist museum" in Kentucky. Turning off my brain isn't really an option for me but I guess some of you can do it on a permanent basis.
If you don't believe me, here is an actual poster from the "museum" (I put the word museum in quotes here because REAL museums are supposed to present actual facts and evidence, not made up BS)

This may not be the best forum for this question but it is sort of religious. The quote below is by Josephus and calls Jesus the Christ. This passage is disputed and said to be false. However it is found in every Greek version of Josephus existing as well as in the Hebrew and Arabic versions. With some slight changes in the Arabic versions. The evidence that this is added is basically "it does not sound like something Josephus would say". This makes no sense to me. This seems to be extra-Biblical proof from the time of Jesus that He both existed and was considered the Christ. This was written in the first century. So doesn't this provide the proof outside the Bible that Jesus existed? It doesn't sound like something Josephus would say seems to me to be a lousy excuse to exclude it. What do you think?

Do you ever have moments in your life when you feel like you're on autopilot?

It's like a slightly dream state trance, where you operate as normal, but you're just not focusing or in the moment (multi-tasking, answering questions without given it too much thought, speeding through life without allowing that inner part of you (spiritual self maybe) to slow down. You don't even know that you are doing it until you slow down....and be in the moment.

When I slow down (pause) I appreciate things more, the people in my life, or life in general.

If you experience anything like this what is your take on it?

If this doesn't happen to you-than don't answer. I rather have an unanswered question, than a bunch of answers coming from wanna bee comedians and butt heads.

I am a teacher and we do a huge unit on the Nutcracker each year. We even attend the Nutcracker Ballet. I have a Jehovah Witness as a student. Is there any reason why she would not participate in our 3 week long activities? Some activities she is just fine with..and other's she comes out and surprises me and doesn't participate.

atheists why do we focus so much on christianity and all its flaws and fallacies? why dont we focus on other religions like buddhism and hinduism?

and christians, why do you focus so much on atheists? why not focus on others like hindus who are already believers of a different god or gods? all you have to do is convince them they're worshipping the wrong ones right?

So why dont we give eachother a break and bash someone else for a change?

How can Jews believe this nonsense about serpents turning into rods or whatever? Manna falling from heaven? "God" promised them certain real estate - this is why we spend billions supporting their occupation of Palestine?

Mathew 5:13-16
You are the salt on the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it become salty again? It is no longer good for anything. except to be thrown out and trampled on by men.
You are the lightof the world. A city on a hill can not be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put in under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.l In the same way let your light shine before men, that way they see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven.
What does this mean to you? are you the salt who loses its flavor or are you the light of the world?

If so what did you think of it?

I am agnostic and for me personally the book, ironically enough, nearly pushed me into absolute atheism. Every example for God that he gave could easily be refuted, the people he interviewed are people who not respected or professionals in their field, and several of the people he interviewed gave misleading and deceptive evidence and on several occasions were caught in their own logic.

Overall I found that the book was manipulative and deceptive and attempted to create the illusion that the reader was given answers when in fact none were actually given.

Many of you always say when it comes to religion you will just be quiet about the matter, which basically enforces atheism, but would you have the same silence when it comes to math or science? Would you tell them about evolution or that the earth is a funky sphere shape, or will you be totally silent about the matter and let them study it if they want?
