I see no reason why Conservatives could not be athiests as well. Just as ironic some on the left are very religious, Jimmy Carter, Ralph Nader and Martin Sheen. I am not trying to make a judgement but I find this very interesting.

When im reading at times i dont feel like im getting anything out of it.....like something jumps out at me. Does that mean im not being fed the word? Or will something latter on come back to my remembrance? Do most believers read thier bible first thing in the morning? Im asking because im not sure if god wants me to read and pray first thing in the morning..or if it doesn't really matter as long as its being done daily? and also when you first became saved did god make alot of changes in your life that were painful? and does that painful change continue to happen all thru out your walk? And also ....Some people believe that god can heal them and others look at healing from a practical stand point... if my faith believes that GOD can miraculously heal me...then that will be done right? Or do i need to be practical like alot of christians seem to be? Because in the bible god touched ppl and healed them.... i believe he can do that to me. Honestly.. i believe that.

Myself, I think I'd prefer a nice zesty sweet habanero sauce.

A little bit of bite, but not too much on the hot side.

Atheists! Are you aware that if you visit the Creation Museum, you'll find there all the proof one could ever need of God?

Don't you think your soul is worth one little visit?

Yup, Yahoo! still categorizes this question as Religion and Spirituality.

And I was so hoping for 'Cats'.

Suppose I should ask a question here, so: How many times would you say you went to church after you stopped believing? I'd say 150 for myself (until I got out of the parents' house).

After all, centuries went by before the first bible as we know it was produced. Christianity did quite well in those early years, and managed to spread to all parts of the Roman Empire before the books of the bible were finally assembled.

For some people, life sucks and death would be much better then living. So why is it a sin to commit suicide? Doesn't god want us to be happy?

This was taken from another answer.

Apart from ending the sentence with a preposition, is this a correct statement?

I must politely disagree with this idealogy. I believe our children should be raised to be intelligent, truth-seeking, self-sufficient adults who will be strong enough to live their lives in the face of adversity.

Any thoughts on the subject?

Josephus seems to think James was Jesus' brother. Why is it so hard for the Catholic church to accept Jesus had half-siblings?

"Convened the Sanhedrin (the highest Jewish religious court / governing body). He had brought before them the brother of Jesus the so-called Christ, who was called James, and some other men, whom he accused of having broken the law, and handed them over to be stoned."
Antiquities, Book 20, 200.

Was the resurrection story just made up to cover up for the absence of a body in the tomb? No corpse = no crucifixion = no sacrifice by Jesus to save us from our sins. All of which could mean Jesus never existed at all.

I want to show that the only difference between humans and ultra-advanced humanoid robots with synthetic flesh would be the method of art production. While the humanoids would be able to produce art, only humans are able to produce original art. And since art is in itself the self-expression of the soul, I would use this to prove that the only difference between and the bots is that we have souls, and I will put this argument forth: Embrace art or you might as well be a soulless robot doing exactly the same functions as a human.

First off, please do not answer if you have never read the bible. For those of you who HAVE, how do you feel about it? It's historically accurate. It has been in circulation for hundreds of years. It is a testament of time. No one's getting royalties, I got my bible for $3 bucks.

No one has anything to gain other than the people reading the book. In a capitalist country, that is very rare. So I ask you: what are your true feelings about the bible? The word doesn't need translation, it is there for you to read and make your own decision, how does it make you feel from an objective standpoint?

Dear Beloved in Christ.

It is by the grace of God that I received Christ, having known the truth, I had no choice than to do what is lawful and just in the sight of God for eternal life and in the sight of man for witness of God & is Mercies and glory upon my life.

I am Mrs.Sarah Baxter, the wife of Mr ricky Baxter, my husband worked with the Chevron/Texaco in Jordan for twenty years before he died in the year 2005.We were married for ten years without a child.

My Husband died after a brief illness that lasted for only four days. Before his death we both got born-again and dedicated christians.

Since his death I decided not to re-marry or get a child outside my matrimonial home which the Bible is strongly against. When my late
husband was alive he deposited the sum of US$7.5 Million.(Seven
Million Five Hundred Thousand U.S.Dollars) with a Bank in Europe.

Presently, this money is still with the Bank and the management
just wrote me as the beneficiary that our account has been DORMANT
and if I,as the beneficairy of the funds, do not re-activate the
account; the funds will be CONFISCATED or I rather issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf (note that you need to activate this account) as I can not come over.

Presently, I'm in a hospital in Jordan where I have been undergoing treatment for esophageal cancer.I have since lost my
ability to talk and my doctors have told me that I have only a few weeks to live.

It is my last wish to see this money distributed to charity
organizations anywhere in the World. Please, I beg you in the name of God to help me

If you are interested in help me fullfill this dream, you can
email to my personal email: sistersarah_baxter@yahoo.dk

Your Sister in Christ,

Mrs.Sarah Baxter

I tend to Zoom in on negativity. And since im a really sensitive person i dont like be dealt with in an aggressive way. I like to be screamed at....And sometimes i think GOD is coming at me that way...like he is upset or angry at me. But today when i was cleaning my place, i realized that i need to focus on the positive things....Like that GOD loves me. And he is always with me..and he has forgivin me of my sins. And he wants to bless me... Anyway, i have a prayer request, a couple actually. first one, that god would bring ppl in my life..and second that he would heal me. im dealing with health problems....thank you guys. God bless you all...

ps. Satan places thoughs in our heads right? And God knows that satan places them thier..so god doesnt hold those thoughts against us right? And satan cant read our mind right? Like i pray alot but quietly .. i dont want the enemy to hear what im saying because i know he wants to try and mess things up. So yea, help me out ?

I don't know about you guys, but I have a hard time reading the scriptures; Bible, Book of Mormon, ect. Actually, I've hacd a hard time paying attention to anything I read lately..lol, that's not the point right now though. :)
I was wondering, does anyone have any tricks for understanding and paying more attention to what you read from the scriptures? I'm having an especially hard time with the Old Testament- the book we're studying in Seminary this year (for all of those who are not LDS, Seminary is a class, either before school, during school, or home-study course, where LDS memebers and non-LDS alike can learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We focus on one book each year; Old Testament, new Testament, Book of Mormon, ect. ) When reading the Old Testament, how do you better pay attention? I know the simple pray before hand and all that, but does anyone else have any other ideas? I just can't seem to learn anything. All POSITIVE ideas are welcome.
