Suicide is, in effect, self-murder. The thing is that the "life sucks" and "happyness" issues is that these are never good reasons for suicide. Seasons pass and so does depression. The one who is depressed needs to look to Jesus and get help. Depression is real and powerful and is best fought with help. Also, severe depression robs the mind of clear thinking. People in such states are in a real way, not in their right mind.
A side issue would be is suicide unforgivable? If Jesus bore that person's sins on the cross 2000 years ago, and if suicide was not covered, then the Christian was never saved in the first place and the one sin of suicide is able to undo the entire work of the cross of Christ. This cannot be. Jesus either saves completely or he does not!

God does want you to be happy. And if life sucks for someone, maybe it is because they are looking to all the wrong things to make them happy. I know what it is to be very unhappy and want to end your life, but first it is against God's commandments (Exodus 20:13, 6th commandment) and secondly it is the most selfish thing a person can do. God has never promised that life here on earth would be a bed of roses. What He does promise is to be with us and to give us the strength to get through the tough times that we all go through. Isaiah 40:31 is such a promise.

So you are saying that a person would be happier dead? I just don't get that. I mean, the reason it is a sin to commit suicide is because you can not ask God to forgive you for doing it after it's done. Your dead.
A friend of mine just blew his head off Oct 31st and at his wake the preacher was saying that he was happier now that he was in heaven. I could of vomited right there in the floor.
Come on! God did not give us this life to end it on our own means. And if we take our own life we sure won't be walking the streets of heaven.

God certainly wants you to be happy. But what might make you happy may make someone else's life miserable. We can only see one small part but God sees the whole picture. As far as suicide being a sin . God says you belong to Him therefore I have to believe God would not approve.

Thou shalt not Murder!!! Thats pretty clear, For some life on earth will never be as good as some others have it. And thats part of the Problem. We compare our successes and failures to others and that is not what the Bible says to do. The Bible says to pickup your cross and follow Jesus Daily. On judgement day we will not answer for any one else but ourselves so keeping up with the jones's as the old saying goes will not have any meaning on judgement day. What ever life has dealt us we can move thru it and bring Glory to Jesus Christ. It is up to us. God does want us to be happy, and the only way we will ever be truly happy is serving Jesus Christ in what ever way he wants us to. We need to take whatever gift Jesus gave us and use it for His Glory, this will bring true happiness, and peace in the Soul!!

Would you be happier if you try to hurt yourself? The 6th Commandment says, "You shall not murder." (Exodus 20:13) That includes yourself! As to why life sucks for other people, it's because they don't have a hope which can only be found in God. With all His heart, God wants us to be happy. But more than that, He wants us to have joy. Happiness is temporal, joy is eternal. Joy can only be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Do you have that kind of relationship?

Well, life this human life is meant for the purpose of spiritual advancement, thats why we have this superior intelligence,we can finally question who we are, what are purpose is etc.
And killing one's self is a terribe way to waste the gift of human life.
It may contridict your beliefs, but in my beliefs,we go through millions of different species of life, until finally reaching one of the highest (but not the highest of course) forms of life.
Human life should be utilized for that purpose,no matter what religion, and so wasting human life in such a manner is terrible, sure if its for the greater good, and not just because you hate life, its okay, but otherwise,it is a pointless and selfish act.
One teenager in America may try to commit suicide because their parents are upsetting them, one seven year old in Darfur may move on and try to face a hard life when half of their family was killed in a raid.
See how much life varies?Nobody should kill themselves because of some petty issue.Especially some social issue.
And some, like in ancient Japan, committed suicide to restore their honor, death before discrace.I don't really have an opinion on that, even in my religious scriptures it talks of ancient battles, and how warriors would promise to kill an enemy on a certain day to avenge something, and would promise to kill themselves if that deadline is not met.
But outside that, killing one's self because somebody is picking on you at school,or your parents won't understand you,or you lose a job, aanything petty like that, thats just pointless.

"If you have saved a life, it is as if you have saved the whole world...and if you take a life, it is as if you have killed the whole world."
When a person takes their own life, sure they might have escaped from the horrors of living...but what about all the other people who are affected by this? Also, if God doesn't want us to murder others, then why should we murder ourselves?? Taking away the divine life spark that God gave you is like throwing a beautiful gift back in someone's face =(

Well I know in the Catholic religion they changed that "rule". They now understand people are in a certain mental state and think that is the only way to escape pain they are feeling. So people who commit suicide aren't consider sinners anymore in the Catholic religion. I don't know about the others. I don't even know where they get these ideas from.

Yes.
Democrats are against the Death Penalty.
But Nancy Pelosi, because she cares, is considering demanding the Death Penalty for anyone Attempting Suicide.
That'll teach them.
