1. They genuinely want to do the right thing.

2. They know very little about their beliefs origins and history.

3. They probably will never know the truth. Religion has a way of destroying the desire to learn about the world and promotes living inside your head.

I'm a Western Taoist, not an atheist, but I'm perfectly ok with moderate believers in any religions. It's fundamentalists that bother me, and they come in all religions. I think we'd be much better off if we all minded our own business!
I tend to view atheism as the lazy option. Most people I know who call themselves atheists aren't, they just haven't bothered to think through and come to any real conclusions. Their business of course, but it seems more of a limbo state than a belief code. That being said, I have actually met atheists who dont' fall into that category, but they seem to be few and far between.

Honestly, it depends on the believer. Some of the people that I am the closest to in this world, and that I love dearly are believers.
I have as much respect for believers in general as they show to others.

I think their beliefs are wrong, but I don't have anything against them personally. I haven't taken a survey, but I'm fairly confident I have more social contact with believers of various stripes than fellow atheists.

Some are cool, some are not...I try to judge them individually and not lump them all together, as far as their belief in god, I think they are a bit misguided, but hey, I'm sure they feel the same way about me. If we could all agree to disagree or be tolerant, things would be cool.

I think they are wrong. But, as long as they aren't hurting anybody and not trying to make their belief system the law of the land, then I think it's a free country and they can do what they want.

I'm not an atheist, but I dont find myself in any religion either. Normal believers are ok, extremists are very annoying (and sometimes dangerous). They tend to be very offensive with people who dissagree with them, so they are not even following their own religion

We all believe something or other. It's believing without evidence, calling it faith, and claiming that is the higher authority that gets up my nose.

And it depends on the individual believer, not what they believe.

I suspect they're mistaken. That's about the extent of it, except that some believers can take their beliefs too far.

i think bible fundies are completely nuts.
i think that regular believers who are at least somewhat intellegent are ok.
stupid people who believe are funny.
i find debating with them funny "why do you believe in such fairytales" "it's in the bible" "that's no reason to believe" "yes it is" "no it isn't. there's all sorts of holy books for all sorts of deities but you don't believe in them" "but it's in the bible" lol

i have christian friends and i wish they smoked we would have awesome conversations.
